When Jimmy first got together with Randy he'd asked him about the court case and had learned quickly that Randy didn't like talking about it. But Jimmy wanted to know exactly what Randy was being accused of and when he'd agreed to give evidence, he took it upon himself to go with Randy to one of his meetings with his lawyer and listened in on what was being said. To say it disgusted him was an understatement. At first he wasn't sure whether to believe it or dismiss it as a desperate attempt at condemning Randy. However after meeting up with Seth he was more convinced than ever that Seth was telling the truth and it was hard to accept. By accepting it not only did he have to admit that Randy was an abuser but he also had to admit that he was Randy's latest victim. After thinking everything through he'd relented and called Seth back but Seth wasn't answering any of his calls.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
Seth came home to find that he had a notification on his phone saying that he'd missed 5 calls. He'd gone grocery shopping and got distracted with feeding Kevin and had left his mobile at home. He recognised the number. It was Randy's house phone, which meant that Jimmy had tried to contact him. Seth quickly re-dialled the number. Jimmy was sitting in the living room with Randy, watching a tv show, when the phone rang and Jimmy stood up to answer it, instantly panicking as Seth's voice spoke to him.
Jimmy looked at Randy anxiously as he pretended it was a nuisance caller on the other end ''No, we're happy with our current package. Thank you''
''Randy's obviously there so I'll be quick" Seth replied "I've realised that I can't force you to do something you don't want to do. So...I won't bother you anymore...but please know that I'm always here for you, no matter what"
''No...i, we updated our subscription a few months ago...ok...bye" Jimmy replied before hanging up the phone
"Who was it?" Randy asked
''Some guy trying to sell us a tv package'' Jimmy lied
Once Randy left the room, Jimmy pulled the phone out of the wall connection and decided to clear things up once and for all. It was a risky decision, one that could easily result in him being hurt, but he had to hear the truth from Randy.
"Randy?" Jimmy said as he sat back down beside him "If i ask you something, do you promise not to get mad?''
''Go on'' Randy replied
''As you know, I've never paid much attention to the details of your court case but the other day, I couldn't help overhearing your brief...he mentioned something...he said that you raped Seth''
Randy quickly got to his feet ''Well Seth would say that, wouldn't he!. He's lying to make me look bad in front of the jury....why do you believe him?''
''No'' Jimmy quickly replied ''I just-"
''Then why are you asking about it? If you don't believe him, then what difference does it make?'' Randy was getting more angry by the second ''I'll tell you what why don't you call my brief and ask him yourself, seeing as your so concerned'' Randy made his way over to the phone and picked up the handset only to find there was no dialling tone. He looked at the lead and saw it had been pulled out of the wall ''Why is the phone unplugged?''
''I must have tripped on it the other day while i was cleaning'' Jimmy lied
Randy tutted "Clumsy"
Jimmy focused on the TV as Randy plugged the phone back in. He wasn't watching it but it provided a good distraction as he heard Randy put the receiver down, instead of calling his brief like he said he would
Randy made his way towards him "Why did someone see you with a man matching Seth's description?"
Jimmy gulped, his eyes widening "They must have been mistaken"
"So you haven't been meeting up with Seth then?" Randy asked
"Of course not, why would I?" Jimmy lied
Randy grabbed hold of Jimmy's hair and the last thing he felt before he blacked out was Randy's fist coming in contact with his face
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
The next morning, Jimmy was in more pain than he'd ever experienced before. His lip was split, his eye was swollen shut and he was aching all over his body.
''I'm back'' Randy announced as he returned from daily check-in at the police station "I got you some of that special coffee you like...I can brew you some if you'd like?''
Jimmy sat down on the couch, wincing as pain shot through his body
''You want me to get you a blanket, a pillow maybe?" Randy asked as he made his way over to Jimmy
"I think I might need to see a doctor" Jimmy replied weekly
''You should lie down, you'll feel better after some rest" Randy replied, ignoring Jimmy's request "How about I make you some chicken soup?"
''I'm in pain Randy please" Jimmy begged
"I'll take care of you, I'll fetch you some painkillers'' Randy insisted before making his way into the kitchen
Jimmy waited for Randy to leave before fetching the piece of paper Seth gave him out of his pocket. He got to his feet and picked up the phone, only to quickly put it back down again, dropping the number on the floor as Randy made his way back into the room
"See, you're feeling better already!!" Randy smiled
Jimmy sat back down "Something's wrong Randy, I can feel it"
Jimmy could see that Randy was losing his patience, but he knew his own body and something was seriously wrong
"The last thing I need is some nosy doctor asking questions and jumping to conclusions" Randy sneered
"I'll explain. I'll tell them it was an accident" Jimmy replied
"And what if they don't believe you? Then what?" Randy asked "You know what...fine I'll call a doctor but if it comes back to bite me on the ass then I hope you can live with yourself"
Randy picked up the phone, but before he could dial the number, he saw the piece of paper Jimmy had dropped on the floor. He picked it up and recognised the number. Randy made his way over to Jimmy, holding the piece of paper up
"What's that?" Jimmy asked innocently
"I was hoping you could tell me that" Randy said
"I have no idea it-"
"This number, it's Seth's" Randy interrupted "I'm going to ask you again. Did you meet up with Seth?"
Jimmy began to cry "I'm sorry"
"You're sorry" Randy mocked "You should be. You should be sorry you even gave him the time of day, you should be sorry you even spoke to him. I trusted you. You were the only person, the only one who believed me, the only one I could rely on and you betrayed me!!"
"I'm sorry" Jimmy repeated, unsure of what we else to say as Randy left the room
