Dean hardly slept the night before his and Seth's date because he was too full of nervous energy. He wasn't nervous about being with Seth; he was nervous about everything he'd planned. Seth deserved the best, and he was worried he'd disappoint him with his choice of date location. The Mojave desert wasn't exactly what sprung to most people's minds for a romantic date location, but it was both one of his favorite spots to train and also one of the most picturesque areas in Nevada. The views of the sunset over the mountains were stunning, and Dean wanted to share that with Seth. Dean had packed a picnic for them and Dean had led Seth over to the perfectly flattened spot where he knew the wind wouldn't kick the sand up too much. He helped settle Seth down on the blanket and they both took a moment to take in their surroundings before Dean broke open the picnic box.
Dean had timed everything carefully to ensure they got the best view of the night sky and Seth stared up in awe as he led flat on the blanket. ''It's beautiful. I can see why you like it here so much''
''Still not as beautiful as you though'' Dean answered as he looked at Seth. ''I sometimes travel here just to watch the sunset and I wanted to share it with you"
Seth smiled as he sat up slightly
Dean took hold of one of Seth's hands. "I wish I could've taken you up to the top of one of those high rocks, though. It's where the best views are.''
''Maybe we can do that when my leg heals?'' Seth suggested as he squeezed Dean's hand
''Are you saying you want to go on another date with me, Sethie?'' Dean asked
''Yeah, I am" Seth replied
There was something about Dean's smile that made Seth lean forward for a kiss, and Dean happily let him take the lead as they explored each other's mouths. After a few minutes, the two men broke apart and Dean buried his head in Seth's neck, pecking at the skin softly.
"Thank you" Seth mumbled, letting out a contented sigh
"For what?" Dean asked as he lifted his head up to look at the younger man.
"For helping me get away from Randy and for being so patient with me" Seth replied. "For loving me and bringing me here, despite me being so damaged"
"You don't have to thank me Sethie" Dean replied "I'm only treating you how you deserve to be treated"
No, you don't
He's lying
Seth shook his head, closing his eyes as he tried his best to ignore the negative thoughts that made an unwanted re-appearance
"You ok? " Dean asked, noticing Seth's distress
"My mind. It taunts me sometimes" Seth admitted. "It tells me I don't deserve anything good"
Dean frowned. "Has it been happening a lot?"
"Not so much recently" Seth explained. "I thought it had gone"
Dean wrapped his arm around Seth's waist. "Have you ever thought about going to see a therapist?"
"Yeah, I've thought about it" Seth answered. "But I've never gone through with it. Mainly because I haven't felt strong enough"
"Well, it's up to you babe" Dean replied "I'm not gonna force you into anything"
At midnight, the two men watched as the night sky turned orange, red, and blue above them
They led there until it was completely dark before finally making a move. It was a simple date, but was everything Seth could've asked for. It was just him and one of the men he loved, enjoying each other's company in the middle of the Nevada desert and Seth had loved every moment.
"Did you enjoy yourself?" Dean asked as he started the engine and pulled out on to the main road.
"It was perfect" Seth replied. "Thank you"
"No problem" Dean uttered as he reached over and grabbed Seth's hand
Neither man wanted to admit it out loud, but they both missed Roman. They just didn't feel complete without him.
. . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . . .
While Dean and Seth were out on their date, Roman settled down in bed and initially intended to get some sleep, but his mind was too busy, so after a while he gave up and started thinking about when he first joined FCW roster. Football had been his career of choice back then and Wrestling had been his Plan B. However, after a spell of injuries, his short-lived football career was over, so he followed in his family's footsteps by getting into the wrestling business. He had learnt pretty quickly how inexperienced he was compared to everyone else on the development roster and having a father, uncle and brother that were already wrestlers meant people had certain expectations of him. He had big boots to fill, and it didn't escape his notice that a few people were saying that he only got offered a contract because of who his family was. Admittedly, his family's legacy had helped him get a foot in the door and he didn't have to wrestle on the indie scene for years like many of his fellow trainees, but he was eager to learn and determined to make a name for himself. Dean and Seth were some of the few people he met that saw past his family name and got to know him for who he was and the three of them quickly became friends. It was that friendship that cemented his future on the main roster as part of The Shield. He also thought about where he could take Seth for their first date. They were heading to Roman's hometown for their final week of their holiday. It gave Roman an idea. He wanted to take Seth somewhere romantic but relatively private and the perfect place sprung to mind.
Dean and Seth returned from their date, and Roman sat up as they entered the room
"Hey. How did it go?"
"It was great" Seth replied as Roman pulled him in for a hug
Roman did the same to Dean and the three of them settled down on the bed
"I'm glad you guys had fun" Roman said as Dean and Seth settled down either side of him
"What can I say? I just know how to show a guy a good time" Dean replied.
Seth giggled and Roman laughed as he ran his fingers through Dean's curls. "Sure you do, babe. Sure you do"
