The rest of the evening slipped past, bluring with colour. Introductions, names, stories, everything. It was as if the past three years alone had never happened. Cassandra heard everything in such detail, it was as if she'd been standing right behind him all along. Snippets of conversation was all that Cassandra could register. "Mom....changed all.....thought she was on our side.....Ellie....thought you were gone.....Supernaturalists....looked everywhere..... can't find..... no way out....paralegals....almost-" "Stop!" Cassandra had heard something that didn't fit, "You know the Supernaturalists?" The excitement filled her voice, what she remembered of them was so thrilling, she would love to meet them again.

Her brother laughed and for a moment she saw his vulnerable side that had taken refuge behind dark eyes over the years. "Know them? We are them Cassie." Cassandra jaw dropped open, "It was you Ellie tried to kill?" Stefan nodded, "But thanks to Cosmo here, we're fine!" Stefan patted a boy on the back. He beamed at the praise, as if it was a rare occurance. These kids knew a different Stefan. Eventually, they'd gotten around to sleeping, after an argument about where Cassandra was going to sleep. In the end Tefan graciously offered up his bed deferring to the couch. Cassandra smiled at the memory of earlier this evening and slipped into a dreamless sleep.

Cassandra woke with a start, forgetting where she was momentarily. She took several deep breaths trying to fall asleep but a feeling of unease did not leave her.  Several minutes passed before she gave up altogether and just stared at the worn ceiling. Over in the next room, she could hear Stefen breathing softly on the couch. She'd been lent his room for the forseeable future until something could be arranged.

She turned over and smiled into her pillows, if only mother could see her son now, battling the very monsters that had taken her from them. She would be avenged. That much could be seen in Stefan eyes. Something she didn't understand though, was the haunted look that hovered above him like a permanent rain cloud that refused to be dissappated. The loss was haunting him and there was nothing she could do about it. There was a muffled thump that brought Cassandra out of her daydreams. Paralegals, she knew how to recognize their mistakes and she had just heard a major one.

Any good paralegal knew that any sound made was a chance of escape handed on a silver platter to the enemies. All in all, they prefered the ghost-like approach. If anything, it was less paperwork for later. So with the help of technology that no one had ever seen, they broke into the apartment on Abracadabra Street for the second time in as many weeks. This time, they were a little more prepared. The head paralegal sighed with content, no paperwork this time. At least that's what he thought, until their newest member offered the silver platter to a certain girl. He groaned inwardly and readied his mind for the dreary paper-work that would definitely fill the entire next day.

Cassandra rolled out of bed, as silently as a cat and hid underneath. She knew that no one survived a paralegal encounter and the best thing to do was to not be seen by them in the first place. The darkness was all consuming and she held her breath, not daring to make a single move. She was very surprised to hear the a laser  piercing the window down  the hall. Apparently nothing was too high-tech than the hearing of a frightened girl.

The head paralegal grimaced as the careless newbie cut a second circle in the glass, just as careless as the first. This time, instead of the piece of glass falling into the building, he cut the glass at the wrong angle creating a vibration that would be audible to unaided ears. Hopefulling no one had heard that either. Once again and this was becoming a trend, he was wrong. Now with the building free for them to enter, they decended, for the most part, smoothly like the falling rain. Flicking on their heat visor, they could see all occupants of the building. "Joe and Daniel: first room to the left..." the head paralegal directed them to each spot of colour on their screen on a silent microphone that could not be detected by a deer.

Something was wrong. There was more people here than there was supposed to be. An extra member that they weren't aware of. Unfortunately, not knowing who was the imposter and who wasn't, they'd have to all go. The head paralegal and two other paralegals headed into the close room and switched of infrared. They'd be able to see their victim now. Their eyes found nothing. The room was empty. That was curious. Faulty infrared was unheard of. Infrared was one of the most basic methods of 'seeing' in the dark. Basic methods did not just fail. Even more basic than that though, was eyesight. Eyesight doesn't fail either. But now the two were contradicting eachother.

Cassandra squeezed her eyes shut as if that would help her remain invisible. She had heard the paralegals open the door quietly but she was awake now. She had to warn the others but her fear refused to allow sound, let alone words, to escape. Cassandra could see the three feet of the paralegals by the door. They had paused for some reason. She squeezed her eyes shut again as they began searching the room. They had seen something to bring her to her room. Maybe this was her chance.

Cassandra silently glanced at the gap between the baseboard of the bed and the floor. Estimating whether or not she'd be able to fit under it or not. She couldn't go the same way she'd come because the three paralegals were flanking the bed, rumaging through the contents of the bedside table and drawers. She couldn't fit her head through. Cassandra let out a sigh of frustration before realising her mistake. The rummaging stopped. She stopped breathing again. The night seemed to grow darker. Seconds stretched longer and longer apart filling the silence in a frightenning way. Just when Cassandra thought it was safe and they had gone, two hands shot under the bed and grabbed her. Dragging her out. Then only she managed to scream.

Hello readers, thanks for everything. I know I haven't updated in a while and I'm sorry but I was on holidays. Here is a somewhat longer chapter to make up for it. This chapter was originally called 'The next chapter lolz' until I found a new title. Thanks for reading and please check out my new fanfic called The Splintered World. It's an OUaT fanfic and if you don't know what that is check it out anyways to find out! I guess it's not that new anymore but sure. Just a question: Google tells me that the spelling lazer and laser is correct. Which is really the most correct? Since wattpad doesn't have spell-check I don't know. Thanks so much please
