"Eh?!? What is that?!" Midoh glared at Link and shuffled back and forth across the opening to the Deku Tree's path. With his back hunched and his handing resting on his hips he somehow seemed even more petulant than earlier.

"Oh... You have a shield. And what's that?!?! the Kokiri Sword?!?"
He crossed his arms and straightened from examining Link's gear. He shuffled his feet and anxiously tapped one of them while thinking. Link was reminded of a small animal in a cage- though he supposed very few mice had trapped themselves the way Midoh had. The Kokiri boy's insistence that Link arm himself, while meant to make Midoh feel powerful in his assumed protective role, had actually forced him to abandon the role once it became clear that Link could and would follow Midoh's rules to the point of becoming better equipped than Midoh himself.
"Good grief..." he muttered. "Even with all that stuff a wimp is still a wimp!"
He jabbed a finger out, pointing at Link.
"I, the Great Midoh, will never accept you as one of us!"
Link wasn't sure what Midoh meant by that, but felt as if he could see though the boy when he stamped is foot and said angrily "How did you get to be the favorite of Saria AND the Great Deku Tree huh?!"
Without waiting for an answer, Midoh stuffed his hands into the pockets of his trousers and stomped off, in the direction of his house, leaving the path toward the Deku Tree blessedly free of obstacles.

ndnbnt: to the lost woods!

ZetaThetaBeta: O.O ... so to be clear we're turning around and going up to the Lost Woods first.
ndnbnt: Yes! ...is that a bad thing?

ZetaThetaBeta: no no i just want to make sure that youre swerving into a different area. You might like the lost woods but I rightly recommend getting a piece of paper ready to make a map as you go...

ndnbnt: ok

ZetaThetaBeta: Alright, I need a map of my own and some planning.

ndnbnt: ok :)

Against Navi's protests, Link decided to explore the lost woods for a bit before visiting the Deku tree. Despite her generally sour attitude, the fairy didn't put her foot down when he passed underneath the wooden archway that connected Kokiri Forest to the Lost Woods. Immediately he knew that he was in a different part of the forest; a different space altogether. Before him was a deep green palisade of trees with more arch ways. An other worldly sort of music seemed to percolate the whole space.

ZetaThetaBeta: Do you want to go north, south (back to Kokiri Forest), east, or west?ndnbnt: wait- which way am I facing?

ZetaThetaBeta: North as well

ndnbnt: I want to go north then

The trees and bushes seemed to close in on Link as he moved north, the forest floor became obscured in shadow as he pushed further in, the canopy blocking out the blue sky overhead. When he next reached a clearing, he was dismayed to see that he had arrived back at his starting point. Link became suspicious that some kind of magic was at work in the woods.
ndnbnt: can I try to go west then?

Attempting a westward track, link came across a totally different clearing very quickly. There were two tree stumps here: on the tallest one, a strange looking boy, garbed in reddish brown played a the strange music on a flute. The only exists from the glade appeared to be east, behind Link, and to the south.
ndnbnt: ok go to the south!
Going south, away from the strange boy and his strange flute, link came across a new clearing. A small, forested valley or hollow lay before him. A large rope bridge swung across the valley but was inaccessible to where link stood. On the other side of the valley, a single, brownish bush seemed to move and shuffle all on its own. There appeared to be no exits to the clearing other than the one Link had just come through.
