nbndnt: Am I starting back where I was?
ZetaThetaBeta: I am actually about to write a bit further on, since the travel out of the room doesn't involve much planning and decision making, if that's ok.
Up the ladder, out of the room, through the hallway that was once home to the Deku scrub, and out the other side. In a rush link found himself back inside the 'trunk' portion of the Deku Tree: with its plank walkway spiraling down to his right, and ending in a shear drop to his left.
nbndnt: I have no clue where to now... what was unexamined? we tried climbing vines, right?ZetaThetaBeta: The vines with the spiders?nbndnt: yeah.
ZetaTheaBeta: The spiders wont come down from the wall so you can't hit them with your sword. If only there was some way to damage them over a distance... ;)
nbndnt: ohhh! now I can!
ZetaTheaBeta: The wall this the spiders is to your right and down the spiral ramp, just behind the chest where you found the dungeon map. Is that where we're headed?
nbndnt: can we hit the spiders first?
Though the gloom to his right, Link saw the empty chest that once contained a map with its vine covered wall behind. Remembering the large spiders that attacked him before, he took careful aim with his new slingshot, only for his Deku seed ammunition to land with a splintering crack on the floor below the wall.
nbndnt: Ok, we are headed there!
Over the gap and across the walkway link ran until the spider covered wall was much closer. This time, he took aim at the nearest spider to better his chances. The took a long slow breath out and felt his arm steady. With a release, a crunching THUD, and a hiss the first spider fell to the ground stark dead. He fired another four times- being less accurate than he would have wished- but killed 2 more large spiders and cleared the entire vine-covered wall!
nbndnt: Yay! Let's climb it!The vines wound up and up- higher than Link expected and soon his hands ached as he climbed. after 10-12 meters, the vines along the wall met with the Deku tree's 'ceiling' and branched left and right, like a T, to connect to another plank ledge.
nbndnt: Should I go right too, or to the left?
ZetaTheaBeta: I think the walkway is circular so either way sounds ok
nbndnt: Oki, let's go right!
This walkway, unlike the one below, was circular but bordered by thick cobwebs on Link's right that prevented him from doing anything other than seeing out. When he arrived at a gap in the webbing, a MASSIVE spider- easily 3 times the size of the others- dropped from the ceiling to block his way. Link froze, but the spider made no move to advance toward him, and to his left, he saw another door that was similar to the one that lead to the Deku scrub on the floor below.nbndnt: Can I open then door?
Running in a wide circle around the giant skulltua, Link focused instead on entering the room behind the nondescript door on the left.
Upon entering, iron bars once again slid down to block his exit, and Link was confronted by a very odd sight: The chamber was large, with dusty, moss covered floors and a deep depression in the middle. Shear walls around the depression would keep Link from climbing up to the ledge on the far side, but vines would at least allow him to retreat back to his current spot. In addition to the ledge across from him, there appeared to be a small alcove to the left as well that was also inaccessibly high.
The floor inside the pit itself had three large circular features that appeared flat, but were unlike anything he had seen before. Pulling his attention back to his part of the room, Link saw an unlit torch, sitting on a stand and unable to be moved, and what looked like a large, square button jutting up from the ground. Behind the button sat another torch- this one however was lit and burning well.
nbndnt: oki- Let's press the button.
Standing on the large button produced a loud, deep POP as the button was depressed into the floor. Immediately the strange circular features in the lower part of the room rose up into cylindrical platforms from from which Link could use, to hop across the pit and onto the ledge at the far end of the room or the alcove to the left.
