The inside of the tree was a deep, warm brown and more cavernous than Link expected. Upon entering the tree, he was met first with the sight of a circular room. Its earthy floor sloping down to a wide, deep hole that must connect the Deku tree's center to its roots. Approaching the hole, Link saw that it was covered by a thick mat of slightly flexible cobwebs: standing in the center of the hole, he beheld water deep beneath the webbing and, looking up, he saw that the walls of the cavernous room had multiple ledges and tiers. Some looked like doorways, some held magically lit torches or ladders placed by other Kokiri sometime in the distant past, and others were covered in more spider webs or vines. A few large sections of wall/floor appeared to jut out, as if inviting him to leap from them back to the ground floor. The ground floor itself only appeared to contain a smattering of old, dry weeds and the dangerous blue flowers which, Navi informed him, were called Deku Babbas.

nbndnt: Can I climb those ladders?
ZetaThetaBeta: Just one ladder, and ofc, let me see if I can remember where it leads.

Climbing up the rickety, wooden ladder to his left, Link found himself above the floor of the chamber, on a ledge that seemed to form a low upward spiral, past gap and a wooded projection that reminded Link of a diving platform, to a section of vine covered wall, and to shadowy alcoves beyond.

nbndnt: ok so he should just jump over the gaps, past the platform
ZetaThetaBeta: sounds good to me, but remember you're at at more or less open world so feel free to explore or examine whatever
nbndnt: Hm, ok but the plan is to see what's upstairs? Do you think I left the floor to soon?
ZetaThetaBeta: No you're good. I'll write the next part

ndndnt: ok :)

Bounding over the the gap, Link landed on the strange platform but kept moving. Once safely on the far side of the structure, the ledge he was on ramped upward considerably. To his right, a ledge leading down to the ground level was covered in a sheet of- or so Navi informed him- climbable vines. Before him, as the ramp curved upward along the inside of the Deku Tree's trunk, Link could see a large box before a rustling, vine covered wall.

nbndnt: Uh :( I'm so bad at imagining this
ZetaThetaBeta: (Pasted short Youtube video) Super impressed that I found a streamer who happens to have a Youtube who happens to have taken your route. Its not like you did something atypical, but good lord it was difficult to find when I was looking for pics a while ago.
nbndnt: :) Link is so cute
Obviously... had to say it anyway though
ZetaThetaBeta: haha! So where to?
nbndnt: To the box!

As Link made his way up to the box, he noticed that part of the ramp he walked across was actually made from planks rather than the wood of the trunk of the Tree. Kokiri must have set it up ages ago. The box itself, turned out to be a large wooden chest, of the kind that might hold treasure in a fairy tale, or a Kokiri Sword in a similar box from earlier that day. The rustling in the vines on the wall behind the chest came from 3 large, fat white spiders. Their black heads sported numerous red eyes like tiny pinpricks of blood, and their abdomen's where mottled white and black in a manner that resembled a human skull. Skulltulas, Navi called them. Each was roughly the size of Link's body, but they made no move to leave the vine covered walls which stretched high into the shadows and out of sight.

nbndnt: Should I be scared? Are they having any reaction to Link's presence?
ZetaThetaBeta: Nah they're just kind of shuffling around in the vines.
nbndnt: Oki- shall we open the box?

With an rising feeling of excitement Link plunged the upper half of himself into the chest to emerge with a map of the inside of the tree drawn on parchment and bound to a square of leather! [Author's note: At this point, I began giving nbndnt photos of game guides and screen caps of the map itself]

nbndnt: (looking at an image of the map) So is it supposed to be mystery what this map is representing? Or am I just dumb?
ZetaThetaBeta: I think its just kind of a meh map in terms of illustration.
nbndnt: So in the game, its important right?
ZetaThetaBeta: Yeah it allows you to find your way when you are lost, and it comes up when you pause the game. Just keep it in mind, I'm going to write more of a description of the setting.

Looking around, Link could tell that the vine covered wall, with its large spiders, lead somewhere, but to his right, he saw that another old bridge had been laid and across a gap where the ledge had apparently collapsed. This new bridge led to what looked like an alcove in the trunk.
