He looked at Nagisa "marry her, a girl like her only comes once every dynasty" he said seriously

I choked, Nagisa turned red. "N-no we're not- I'm not-" He and I started stuttering and stammering, the old man simply laughed. "You two remind me of me and my wife when we were younger" he said wistfully. "Oh.. Uhh, that's nice" I awkwardly said, blushing as I looked at Nagisa

He caught my eye and blushed as well.

The old man patted our shoulders. "New couple? Have you two just started dating?"

"We're not dating" I said. "You're not? But you're wearing such a lovely dress, and the air around you two is very romantic" the old man replied.

"I mean we're.. It's.. It's a friendly date!" Nagisa exclaimed. "We're just friends! This is a date between friends"

Ouch

"Yep! A date between friends" I agreed. "Are you sure?" The old man raised a brow. "We're sure!" Nagisa and me chorused.

The old man shrugged even though we're sure he didn't believe us. "Alright then... enjoy the rest of your evening" he said, whistling as he went back to cooking

Nagisa and me paid for our food and hurriedly left

That was so embarrassing! But honestly kind of funny. Nagisa's expression was the funniest, he looked so surprised and flustered and embarrassed, he was stammering over his words and shaking his head and hands

We walked in silence, passing many shops and restaurants. Eventually I broke the silence

"So where are we going next?"

"Huh? Oh, uh... " Nagisa scratched the back of his neck. "The.... Park? I heard there's supposed to be a fireworks display in a few hours"

"Great" Was all I said, smiling at him.

He smiled back, which made my heart skip a beat. He and I headed to the park.

This date isn't starting out how I imagined it to be. Our clothes aren't coordinated (I seem to be over dressed while Nagisa's outfit is very simple) my heels are killing my feet, we had a cheap dinner at a ramen stand, Nagisa said our whole date is just a date between friends(even though I agreed with him)

And we've been awkward with no real destination in mind. At least I asked Nagisa where we should go next. Maybe the park will be a turning point.

As we were walking, I purposely lagged behind.

My eyes landed down on his hands

I wanted to hold them

I want to intertwine our fingers.

My heart is beating faster. I really want to hold Nagisa's hands, would it surprise him? Slowly I was reaching forward, my blush still prominent on my face. "Hmm... " I hummed softly, my fingers almost grazing his own.

"Here we are!"

I almost tripped in surprise when Nagisa jogged forward and pointed at the gates to the park. "The place looks lively with all the colorful lights decorating the trees, and there are vendors around for us to buy snacks from" He said, beckoning for me.

I sighed, and smiled. "Wait for me" I jogged towards him

"Kayano there's a magic show going on over there!" He grabbed my wrist and excitedly led me to the small crowd circling a street magician by a tree

Electricity shot up my arm.

Why was I complaining? Just because this isn't my dream date doesn't mean it's already a disaster. Sure our beginning wasn't as fun as I hoped but this night isn't even over yet

And Nagisa told me he has something to show me later at 12

And he's holding my hand. He looks excited

He's my crush, he asked me out, he prepared a nice evening for us. I shouldn't complain, I should be appreciative that I'm on a date with the boy I love

I giggled like a child. Right, I'm on a date with the boy I love. Even if he thinks this date is just a 'friends date' like he told the old man, it's not like that for me. I'm on a date with the boy I love.

"Kayano, is there something wrong? You're holding my hand really tightly" Nagisa chuckled. I smiled. "No, I'm just excited for the next trick" I said, looking at the magician.

"Are you... not going to let go of my hand?" He asks, looking down at our still joint hands

"Nope! Don't wanna get lost" I excused.

Nagisa smiled before returning his attention to the magician

That's right. I'm on a date with Nagisa Shiota, the boy I love.
