Anupamaa walked towards the exit gate holding Devika's hands. Manini was passing from nearby them holding her side bag and their eyes met for a moment. Anupamaa stopped and looked down instantly as if ashamed of disappointing her professor, who had declared her a few months back as her favourite student. She felt upset to fail her.
"Anupamaa...", Manini addressed her.
"Sor..y... ma'am... Aagey se ni... Hoga...".
"Maine uss din bhi kaha tha ki agli baar ki guarantee abhi se mat lo! Kuch soch ke hi bola tha...", Manini said.
"Sorry..."
"Shaadi ke chakkar me apni padhai kharaab mat karo. Har ladki ko padhne ka mauka nahi milta hai... Apni hi class me ladkiyon ki strength dekhi hai na tumne?"
Anupamaa shook her head.
"Aur tumhe chance mil raha hai... To build a career... And this is how you are going to use this opportunity? By sleeping in class? By not doing your assignments?", she said in a low sophisticated tone.
Anupamaa listened to her with a bowed down head.
"You are a bright student. I have been noticing you since two days and sincere ni ho tum class me. Aur aaj to...!! You slept!!".
"V...o... Suri... Pata nahi kaise... Vo... Aankh lag gayi..."
"Tum bhi jaanti ho aankh kaise lag gayi so don't try to beat around the bush and ignore the truth!! I've seen more winters than you!! I can see what this marriage is doing to your studies !! Apne pati ki vajah se padhaai mat chhoro Anupamaa. It's your right... Par jo ho raha hai main jaanti thi aisa hi kuch hoga hi hoga shaadi ke baad!! Aur isiliye humesha se aur phir... jab tum leave application ke saath aayi thi mere pass tab bhi... maine bola tha shaadi mat karo abhi itni jaldi...", Manini reminded her.
"Ha..an...", Anupamaa agreed.
"Padhaai pe dhyaan do. Tumhe daantne me ya class se baahar nikaalne me mujhe koi maza nahi aata hai na mera koi personal benefit hai... Aur mujhe gyaan dene ka bilkul shauk nahi hai and trust me na mere pass itna waqt hai na jazbaat... Tumhari jagah koi aur hota to shayad main bolti bhi nahi kabhi ye... Par tumhe bol rahi hoon... Because I know tum bahut kuch kar sakti ho life me... You have that potential... Emotions me aur rishton me bandh ke apna time waste mat karo... Husbands are not worth wasting your career for...", she gave her a piece of her own thought.
"Vo... Ye... bahut acche hain... Sab bahut acche hain... Main sambhaal... loongi sab... Poori koshish... Karoongi...", Anupamaa instantly cut her short.
Manini pursed her lips and scanned Anupamaa completely as if in disbelief and unwilling to trust on Anupamaa's words.
"Tumhe apne pairo pe khada hona hai... Vo tumhari asli kamaai hogi remember that... Your knowledge is the only constant everything else is temporary... Kyunki zindagi kab kis mod pe khada kar degi tumhe pata bhi nahi chalega aur tab pati aur saas kaam nahi aate... Jaanti ho uss waqt kya kaam aata?", she posed a question.
"K-ya?", she looed at Manini.
"Sirf apna...", he patted her forehead with the tip of her forefinger, "Dimaag... Aur...", she tapped her heart, "Himmat kaam aati hai. Prepare yourself for the worst, thank god if it doesn't happen and brace yourself in case it does!! Samjh rahi ho na meri baat?", Manini asked.
"Ye..s... Ma'am...", Anupamaa nodded.
"Aur tumhe favorite student bola tha par iska matlab ye mat samjhna ki indiscipline ke liye baakiyon se alag vyavahar hoga tumhare saath ya tumhe baakiyon ki tarah punishment ni milegi. Aur do din se jo ho ra... next time aisa ni hona chahiye... Iss baat ka tumhe dhyaan rakhna hai...", Manini warned.
