"Why would my father steal his own sword?" Emma asked, "and then pretend that someone wants to steal his power, and send us on a wild goose chase?"
"Are you honestly that stupid?" Will sapped at her. She looked at him in shock with his sudden outburst of anger.
"What? Do you know why?" she asked bewildered
"Yes, well, maybe." he said gravely. Emma looked at him waiting for an explanation, but got none.
"Are you going to tell me or what?" said Emma harshly.
"I can't," he choked out.
"Why not?" she half shouted.
"Because if I tell you, you'll die!" Will roared.
"Huh? What does that mean?" Emma asked
"If I tell you what I know, he will kill you." he said slowly but sternly.
"Who will kill me?" she asked desperately, "Just tell me! I can protect myself!"
"I don't want you to die"
"For the love of god, I won't die, I can protect myself and so can you. So tell me."
Emma insisted, "I deserve an explanation!"
"Okay fine! I will tell you, BUT I need you to promise that you will be careful." "Yes I will be careful. Tell Me!"
"And I will also not let you out of my sight until I know that you will be perfectly
safe.""Whatever you want."
"Okay, I don't really know where to start,
"Just start at the beginning." Emma said impatiently
"Remember when I ran away?"
"Yeah."
"Well it wasn't because I didn't want to be near my father anymore, well it was a
bit alleviating, but it didn't have anything to do with it."
"It was because of Zeus that I had to go away. Now, I don't know the full story,
just what your father told me, well threatened me with." Emma kept looking at him with a harsh face to hurry him up and just tell her already.
"It was the day before your mother was killed, I was at home alone and your father came to visit me. He told me that if I don't leave and stay away from you or tell you what he was telling me, he would kill you."
"My own father?" she asked in disbelief, "I mean truth be told he isn't the world's greatest father, far from it, but still..."
"And from what Alynafae told us, I mean I know she lied, but not all of it was. I think the part of a prophecy saying that someone intends to kill Zeus, is true. And I think that it is you who is intended to kill him."
"What makes you say that?"
"When he was threatening me all those years ago, he mentioned something about me trying to keep you from being the best fighter or mastering your powers. To keep you from getting closer to kill him."
Wow- it was all starting to come together like pieces in a puzzle."He's the one that killed my mother, isn't he." she said affirmingly, "So,this is why you hate me? Because he threatened you?"
"You are as stupid as you are smart. I don't hate you. A hugely powerful god threatened me to stay away from you or he would kill you in front of me, and make me live the rest of my life miserably, because the person I loved died because of me. That was a good enough reason to stay away from you, not hate you. But I had to get you to stay away from me, so the easiest way was to get you to hate me." Will explained, " I figured that sacrificing my happiness by getting you to hate me was a good price to pay if it meant keeping you alive. Because that is how much I loved-love you"
"But I'm literally telling you everything that could get you killed, so all my hard work is now going down the drain." he added sourly.
He loves me! She thought happily. She gets up and goes to him, wrapping her arms around his neck and kissing him.
"I never really hated you"
