as Jadon drives down the small service road out of his house and onto the main street, he gets a call from Marcus
he places his mate on his car speakers and answer the call
"hey marcus"
"hey Jadon, where you heading?" he asks hearing the sounds of the road from the call
"oh just taking a little drive"
"mmm yeah sure"
Marcus knew his best friend too well, he had learnt to know the exact tone Jadon used whenever he lied, and despite Jadon knowing how bad he was of a liar, he still denied it
"what?"he bites his lip
"so your not giving up on that note yeah"
Jadon had become obsessed with the note lately, he had been going to the library every day since to see if he had gotten a note back, as he had become intrigued by the girl who wrote the note. He liked the feeling of the suspense and mysteriousness the girl gave out, the more he waited, the more impatient he became and he wanted to find out even more
"last try marcus, last one" he lies knowing he'll show up again tomorrow if he doesn't get a reply back
"its been 5 days, lets be real you've scared her off"
"shush you plonker"
"well at least stay with me on the phone, i wanna see you get rejected live"
"im not going to get rejected mate"
"we'll see about that one"
Jadon parks nearby the library, leaves his car and walks into the library with his airpods connected to his call with marcus
the boy smiles at the librarian at the front desk and makes his way to the fiction aisle in the back corner of the library
"have you found it yet?" he hears marcus say through his ear
"nah" Jadon whispers
he traces his hands across the shelves looking through the books to find the one
"ah, here it is"
he flips through the pages of the book and the paper falls out
the boy picks it up from the floor, realising its not the original note, but a whole letter from the girl
"rejected yet?" marcus laughs
"no way! she replied marcus" he whisper-shouts
"oh well, my prediction was wrong"
"you suck at all kinds of predictions marcus, you should have known"
"im alright at FPL"
"no your not" he snorts knowing how bad his mate is at FPL as he can almost hear Marcus rolling his eyes at him
