      I woke up suddenly to the sound of a loud snap. I sat up, still groggy, and rubbed my eyes. "What was that?" I asked Sienna, was already alert.

    "I don't know," she gestured to the fire, and I crawled over to stomp it out.

    "We should check it out," I stood and began walking carefully in the direction of the noise.

    Before I could get very far, though, Sienna grabbed my elbow. "Are you CRAZY?! Eric's still out there. We should wait for him."

    Suddenly, I felt anger surge through me, "Yeah, lover-boy's not back yet. Cry me a river."

   Her grip loosened slightly and she looked confused. I jerked my arm away from her, "You two sure seem to rely on one another. For all you know they could have him. I'm leaving. With or without you."

    The older girl reeled away from me as though I'd slapped her. Hurt flashed across her face, and I know I should have felt bad, but I couldn't help but feel jealous of what she'd already gotten. Eric seemed to love her, even after the short time we'd been together. I didn't have anyone. Not now. Not ever.

   "Okay. We'll go, then," she stood and grabbed her jacket, but look in my direction at all. She quickly walked into the woods, with a stride as though she had something to prove. I had to jog to catch up, burn I didn't walk beside her. I was about to attempt conversation, when we heard the footsteps of two people coming our way. And fast.
