Hello and welcome to this chapter on the basics of Polish grammar!
In this chapter, we will be discussing some important rules to help you understand the Polish language better.

First, let's talk about articles.
Unlike in English, there are no articles in Polish. This means that you won't use words like "a", "an", or "the" in your sentences.

Next, we will discuss the three genders that singular nouns can have in Polish: masculine, feminine, and neuter.
To know the gender of a noun, you need to check the endings of the words.

For example, the word "sklep" which means "shop" ends with a consonant, so it is masculine.
On the other hand, the word "herbata" which means "tea" ends with the letter "A", so it is feminine.
And finally, the word "piwo" which means "beer" ends with the letter "O", so it is neuter.

It's important to note that adjectives in Polish change according to the gender of the noun they are describing.

Duży sklep = Big shop.
( we change to "Y" or "I"  in Masculine )

[ Note if noun consonant end with "K" or "G" you change to "I" ]
Example: Szybki autobus = Fast bus

Duża lampa = Big lamp
(we change with "A" or "I" in Feminine )

Duże kino = Big cinema
( we change with "O" or "E" in Neuter )

However, there are some exceptions to this rule.
For example, some masculine nouns end with the letter "A" but still keep their masculine gender.
Examples of this are "mężczyzna" which means "man",
"dobry poeta" which means "good poet",
"miły dentysta" which means "nice dentist".

On the other hand, there are some feminine nouns that end with a consonant but still keep their feminine gender.
Examples of this are "sól" which means "salt" ,
"cicha noc" which means "silent night".

So, there you have it - the basics of Polish grammar!
