part 5: hurt

"I told them- that kody took advantage of me" her crying got worse her words getting more warbled and harder to form her tears stung worse than they usually did, percy turned to will Nico and Leo "we all agree kody is going to die right?" And they gave various statements of agreement then will asked "has he hurt you anywhere else and does it need attention" she shook her head "he has but its healed by now" for some reason she felt more opened more compelled to tell the truth "is there any scarring?" Will asked his concern growing by the second,she nodded "is it in a place your ok with showing me?" Quin hesitated for a second thinking, after she weighed her options she nodded a bit and sat up some more hesitantly she reached for the end of her shirt and revealed her torso with so many medium sized faded scars and one big scar in the middle there was no pattern to them they seemed to be random going in no one direction or line "kody needs to count his fucking days" percy said scowling will looked dead serious "quin, were these all done by kody?" Quin looked even more hurt though it shouldn't have been possible "of course! Do you not trust me enough with myself to-" percy interrupted her "yes quin we trust you but-" "well clearly you don't if I had to be asked that stupid question!" Will sighed "we do I just had to ask because i care and so do leo percy and nico" percy and leo nodded in agreement, Nico knew this wasn't the right time to be snarky so he nodded as well "I told you they were from kody why didn't you trust me" she said quieter than how she'd been talking "I trust you quin everyone right here does but when something like what happened to you happens people can resort to bad ways of calming their thoughts" will tried to reason with her but kind of figured it was a bit of a lost cause when she got this way, which was rare but happened nonetheless she usually couldn't be reasoned into calming down and regular arguing wouldn't help at all,yet he was trying his best because he cared about her he was one of her best friends after all, "and you don't trust me enough that you think I would do something like that" this back and fourth went on for a while will percy or Nico would try to reason with her and she would say something in return, something stubborn and set in her thoughts leo had been fairly silent afraid to say anything but as usual fidgety after a while will looked at leo "she'll probably listen to you, what do you have to say leo" he looked a bit surprised "why would she listen to me if she's not listening to any of you?" He asked genuinely confused and quin eyes widened a bit at will she definitely didn't want leo to find out she liked him this way, will didn't know what to say for a second so percy piped in almost stumbling over his words "because your her absolute best friend you might be able to reason with her" he said and leo was still confused "but your her brother you should have more say than I do" Nico was smart about it and said "your also the only one who hasn't been arguing with her or has annoyed her" leo had no idea what to say to quin his anxiety almost taking over his brain but knew he had to say something "quin, we do trust you but-" he started and quin sighed "not you too leo please not you too" she said looking at him tears swelling in her eyes again and leo felt conflicted on one hand he agreed with what everyone was saying and he knew it was reasonable but on the other hand hurting quin in any way would most likely break him leo was silent for a second almost as if he had froze but then said "quin we do trust you, we just know people resort to unhealthy things it's not uncommon and will had every right to ask you that question" it almost hurt to say that but he knew he had too it took effort to say what he was truly thinking besides his thoughts about how much he liked her of course, quin looked at him in hurt silence after a moment a small discussion was had, where quin was mostly silent just nodding and shaking her head at questions here and there leo decided to try and be his usual self, he wanted to see her smile so why not give it a try he went to playfully nudge her and not so surprisingly for how she was feeling she pulled away and it practically broke leo, her pulling away made it sink in he had hurt her it didn't matter it wasn't physical, he had hurt her feelings and he felt like he wouldn't forgive himself for a while she had never pulled away from him before no matter how she felt, granted they were both fairly afraid of hurting each other so leo never had hurt her in any way before, it felt new and it felt gods awful after she pulled away leo couldn't hide the pain on his face very well and she felt instantly guilty among other emotions but after everything she was exhausted and will could tell "how about you get some sleep we'll talk more in the morning" he said his tone softer he may have been upset but he knew how to read the room all quin could do was nod slightly and lay back down her eyes instantly too heavy to hold open, leo was the first to get up and walk out after what happened he wanted to be alone for a bit percy didn't want to go but was forced out because in wills words he should sleep in his cabin and not on a chair in the infirmary Nico eventually dragged will out because he needed sleep after the very long day he had quin was sound asleep for most of the night until she woke up to the shuffling sound of someone sitting beside her cot
