The legend of the mighty Phoenix is a tale passed down from generation to generation in my family. It all started with my ancestor, who somehow stumbled upon the mythical beast on his travels across the nation, it is said that he came across the beast while being trapped in a terrible harsh blizzard, it was so bad that he could only see a mere few feet in front of him. He was trapped in the wilderness all alone, the bitterness of the cold was harsh and merciless the snow was up to his knees making it incredibly difficult to traverse this environment, and he knew this but he did not falter, he could not falter, he had so much on the line here. So he kept going forward, he kept pushing himself further and further as much as his body screamed for him to stop, as much as it cried out in pain he persisted with no hesitation.
Though despite his determination his body could not follow his demands and eventually gave out on him buckling down from exhaustion, he collapsed face-first into the snow his body screaming in pain. He tried to move but found that his body would not listen to him it had given up on him. His heart was pounding inside of him, the fear was building as he felt an overwhelming feeling of dread, was this it for him, were all of his efforts in vain? He couldn't lose here he just couldn't, but what options did he have, his mind drifted to why he even did this, why he committed to this journey as he remembered his only child sick with an unknown disease and the only doctor around was miles away from his home, he lost his wife due to the birth of his child and he wasn't willing to lose her too. Tears were falling from his face as he thought of his daughter, seeing as how he had failed her, himself, and his wife.
With nothing left to do, he prayed. He prayed to any and all who would've listened to a poor man such as him, he begged for help, as that was all he could do. His pleas seemed to go on unanswered as the storm raged, he felt hopeless, useless, and worthless. This was it, this was the end he had failed his family he was broken as he started to say sorry over and over again, his voice hoarse and weak as none heard his pleas.
Yet that was not true, as a massive bright light appeared, at first, he couldn't tell what it was but as his body started to warm up, his mind was able to focus and that is when he saw it. A massive bright flame seemingly appeared out of nowhere the sight confused him, and that's when he heard it, the screeching of a bird, and he watched as the flame flew closer to him and he was able to see it, a massive bird made of flames, then the creature flew around him. All exhaustion and pain in his body disappeared in an instant, and his body felt anew, standing up with this newfound strength and watching as the bird continued to circle him before flying off in a direction as if leading him somewhere. Against his better judgment, he followed it, as he watched the light get further and further until it disappeared, but as it did he found himself exactly where he needed to be. Soon after he managed to make his way home with the doctor, telling his story to his daughter, who sat in awe of his tale.
Similar events happened to his descendants with the mythical bird seemingly appearing when our family needed it the most, becoming what our family would believe to be our guardian angel. Do I believe in it? No, I do not, stories like that usually tend to be twisted and changed as time went on as this story was from such a time ago that many of its details were most likely lost and changed, what I think really happened was that he probably passed out from exhaustion and started to hallucinate believing what he saw to be real as lots of people back then didn't actually know that something like that could happen. I mean it is a nice thought to have something like that be some sort of guardian angel, but I lost all hope in that a long long time ago.
