Patricia took a deep breath. She settled in and stretched out on the mattress before opening her eyes. She wanted to curl up again and sleep for a while longer.
Only... her bunk wasn't that big.
She sat up abruptly and looked around. This was not the hostel. It was a large room with a few pieces of furniture and white walls. Few candles illuminated without much desire. The head of the bed was covered by a cream canopy.
Where was she?
"Good night, little sleepyhead."
She followed the masculine voice and ran into a large figure in the corner, which surely wasn't there a moment ago.
"You're not grandpa." She said suspiciously.
"No. My father went out at dusk. You've been sleeping all day."
Father?
Then her eyes sharpened. As if to give her a chance to make out, he came closer, his steps slow and loud. She recognized him as soon as the light touched his hair, even whiter than his gray skin, and his golden eyes.
"Of course!" Got excited. "You are Alucard, the one in the blue armor! You were on the wall!"
"Wow" his smile was pleasant, despite his fangs "I feel at a disadvantage! I bet you know a lot about me, don't you?"
"Because I'm very smart! And I love monster stories! I know you are Trevor, the son of the warrior Belmont and Marie, but the prince of the castle transformed you and you swore to be the opposite of him and to defend the humans!"
"Oh." Slowly, he took a seat on the mattress, in front of her.
"I saw you the other night, but I wasn't sure, because it was very dark. Marie said you would introduce yourself when you see how brave I am." She leaned towards him. "Do I seem brave to you?"
She had the impression that he was holding back a laugh.
"Of course. Very, very brave."
"Wait! In the stories, you and Grandpa always fight. Do you already get along?"
"Yes, we do."
"Ugh," she sighed "thank goodness."
"I thought that the most striking of the stories were the conflicts!" He snorted.
"Not always." He hesitated. "But I don't like it when the family fights. It is very sad."
"Sad?" He was analyzing her, so she also did the same.
He wasn't faking his smile. Unlike his grandfather, he treated her with confidence, as if at some point he had been used to dealing with children like her, but he couldn't remember very well.
"You're not wearing your suit."
He looked at himself. He was wearing a simple white shirt with an untied drawstring at the top, black pants, and heavy-looking dark boots. If not for his unusual figure and the chilliness of his aura, he would be quite human.
"Well, no. I don't need it right now."
"Just like my armor! I only use it when I'm going to fight."
"I see." He said, amused.
Frowning, she examined herself. She was also not wearing her usual clothes. A simple light pink nightgown with little ruffles took its place.
"Don't worry. I have kept it in that closet. I just thought that you would want to rest comfortably, so I asked someone to prepare you for sleep."
