Chapter 15: Cthulhu

I leave without saying a word. I lift a totalled car out of some rubble and hot wire it. Then I grab Chloe and drive home. We don't exchange any words for the entire trip. When we get home I walk to bed and crash. Then I have a nightmare about Space Godzilla. I look around and see everything in ruin. Space Godzilla looks down at me, fire is spread almost as hugh as him. "I told you we would meet again," he says telepathically. I try to transform. But I'm unable to. Space Godzilla just lifts me with his mind and flings me into a building and then deep into the earth where I burn alive. Then I wake up covered in sweat. Master Serizawa walks in. "Logan, I know what you are afraid of." He says "Yeah right, it's not like you have that feeling of something coming back to kill you, or trying to keep a team together....or killing people." I say quietly. "Those accidents were not your fault. Logan, you have a good heart. People will die because they didn't escape in time. But none of that matters now. What matters is you stopping the other shifters. I know that you are afraid that you won't be able to save everybody, or even yourself when you need to most." He says. I looked in the garage and saw what you did with the suit. I must say, I like the changes." I sit at the side of my bed. "The shobijin said I cannot kill another kaijushifter. Elliot just did." I say worried. "I'm sure it will all be fine." He says. "But you should go to the shobijin to see what the consequences will be." He says. So that's what I do. I run out of the house and charge my strength into my legs and arms so I can swim towards infant island. There I meet the shobijin in a small cave. "Logan, what have you done?" They ask. I can tell they're angry. "What are you talking about?" I ask. "Megalon died today. So did Brian. Why?" "Because Elliot or King Ghidorah backstabbed him and made everyone obey him." I answer. "This is terrible?" They respond. "How so? What's so bad about one of us dying in combat anyway?" I ask. "Because Cthulhu will wake." They say. "Cthulhu?" I ask. "Yes, he has descended upon earth before. And whenever someone gazes upon him, they go mad. Your civilization believes in a god. Well this is a real god. He has out lived universes before this one, and will always reincarnate in an egg." They say with their heads down. Their explanation has gone past the sun set and the moon floats high above us. "There is so much you don't know, Logan. But in time, you will realize the full problem. Now go." They say. I don't believe it. I swim back home and lay on my bed wide away, staring at the tv screen. And it was just my luck. The camera that i levitated above me was on and it was all over the news. A bigger knot fills my chest. I vomit my guts out.
