8th grade

It was the end of the year. All you needed to do was prepare for the entrance exam. You weren't exactly changing your routine or panicking about it. You've trained for a while constantly without stopping once, since you started. Your dad was not happy about you becoming a hero. He ended up snapping at you and telling you you weren't good enough to be a hero because you quirk had the intent to kill. He apologized, but it still stung hearing those words from him.

"Come on Y/n, don't slack off or you'll get beaten up! Do you really think a villain is going to stop for you? No!"

He swung at you without hesitance and missed by a long shot. You swiftly dodged and twisted your body around to kick his legs and slammed his face to the ground.

"Well..." he panted "at least I know those new cuffs work"

You let go and checked the cuffs. They weren't locked together, but they were still thick and heavy. You were used to it at this point but it sucked having them on.

"We've been training for 7 hours are we done? I want to go help my grams clean..."

You avoided eye contact and looked at your wrists.

"Yes, fine, go home, kid. Get home safe."

You watched as he picked up his water bottle and placed a towel around his neck. Looking away, you made your way out of the beach and onto the side walk.

Yes, you trained on a filthy, messy, dirty beach. Why? Your father didn't want people seeing you fighting for your 'safety' but you knew it was just because he didn't want people thinking you were a hero. You put your headphones on and walked home. The sun was still a little bit past the middle of sky so it was still a sort of hot day. You tried to avoid the sun, to prevent anymore sweating. You hated the feeling of your clothes sticking to your skin. You glanced up as a person sped past you, nearly knocking into you. The person had stopped in a crowd..? Looking both ways across the street, you jogged over to the crowd to see what the hype was.

A villain, huh?

There was fire and broken down building parts everywhere. You looked closer to see a spiky blonde kid entrapped in the gooey sewer colored slime. Why hasn't anyone saved him yet? Everyone is just standing here. You heard the chatter beside you, listening as you realized heroes were here, but they can't save him because of the fire. Something about explosives..? You looked through the crowd and noticed the person that nearly bumped into again. He looked so panicked? Man, he looks more traumatized than the kid in the slime.

You shook your head but flinched when you saw him run past the crowd and into the fire, towards the villain.

"What the..!"

You had no idea what came over you, but for some reason you chased after him.

"Green haired kid..! Your gonna kill yourself going in there!"

Who was this kid and why did he seem so familiar?! Most importantly, why are you going after him! You looked at the thing again and noticed how it flinched after the book was thrown at its eye. Weakness maybe? You stopped and scanned the area looking for things that could be of use to you. You picked random things on the ground and threw at it. You grabbed anything you could find and chucked it as hard as you could.

"Have no fear for I am here!!"

All might! Finally...you backed out of the way as he swooped the two kids away and saved them. All you wanted to do was go home and now your even dirtier than before. Dust and ash, added to sweat.

Definitely gonna need a long deserved shower now...

You thought, glancing at your clothes. The ambulance people had ran over to you now, bombarding you with questions and if you were okay or not.

"I'm fine. Just gonna go home."

"Sorry kid but we gotta ask a few questions.."

Ugh. Just what you needed. The guy had escorted you over to the others and that's when you stopped in your tracks. You looked up and made contact with an all too familiar boy.

Izuku..?

You backed up and out of the nurses arms, which he had placed on your shoulder. You were scared? Happy? Sad? Angry? You had no idea but you felt...guilty..you had just come back to this place and this was the first thing you are met with? Your ex best friend? Murmuring could be heard from people who had surrounded you but you paid no mind to it, being too consumed of the thought of seeing him again. The nurse called you once again and you ran. You ran as fast as you could, listening to the the nurses calls and pleads for you to return slowly fade away as you made your distance away. Finally making it to you dads house, you sprinted in and slammed the door.

"Hello y/n how was training honey?"

Your grandma gave you a sweet smile, picking up plates and bottles from the floor. To answer your questions, you were back at your old home. Your grandparents wanted to be closer to the school you were applying to and your dad could never say no to his deceased wife's parents. Your dad didn't get the chance to clean when you all arrived so it was left a slob by mess.

"Hey grams..um it was good. I'm gonna go take a shower though.."

"Yes dear you definitely should after you ran into the fire and ash like that. Such a chaotic girl."

You stopped and nervously smiled.

"You uh saw that?"

"Yes of course it was on the news! Are you okay, honey? Nothings hurt? Did the nurses check you?"

"Um...i ran away...from them.."

"What? Why?"

"I saw...Izuku..there."

You hated saying his name. It brought so much sadness to you and it brought back those memories in which you felt so betrayed when he left.

"Oh honey...come here.."

She wrapped her arms around you and hugged you tightly. She knew all too well about the sore subject and what effect it had on you. She rubbed circles on your back as comfort and you just kind of stood there.

"I'm just gonna go shower, okay? I'll be back down soon."

You walked upstairs and into you old bedrooms bathroom. Grabbing some clothes, you walked in, locked the door and discarded your clothes. Getting in to the warm shower water was more refreshing than anything. The ash slipped down your body as it was washed away slowly. Of course, you probably needed to scrub extra to get the smell out of your skin but you didn't mind.

Izuku looked so...different.

You couldn't read what emotion he felt when you two made eye contact, but you also didn't stick around long enough to look into it. You just hoped to never see him again. You didn't want to make up after what he did.

Yet for some reason you continued to wear the charm....
