summer
"Your seriously asking for me to help you? Why should I? What's in it for me, huh?"
Your body turned to face him and your jaw tightened.
"All might told me to ask you."
"Tell him I'm not helping some stupid weakling who can barely lift a human being. Have you beaten Bakugo yet?"
You figured Bakugo hasn't changed and kept bullying him. After you left he probably became an even better target since it was so much easier to get to him. You could see his fists clench and how his eyes had lost the kind look he always held for you before.
"You don't know anything about me."
"Are you sure? Because I know your new little quirk didn't come naturally like mine. Have you even gotten One for all yet?"
His eyes widened. How did you even know about that? He hasn't paid attention when the two of you conversed, so maybe he told you then?
"I was forced over here. If I had a choice I wouldn't have gotten near you, L/n. And it's none of your business if I have a quirk or not."
You sighed, finally realizing this convo was getting no where. You looked past him and gazed at the horizon.
"....how's your mom."
"I won't tell you anything about my mother."
You took at glance at him and slightly smirked, barely being noticeable by him.
"...hm. Don't worry it's okay I can ask her myself."
"You wont-"
You played with your phone for a few seconds, scrolling through contacts. Finally finding the one you were looking for, you pressed the call button. You put it on speaker so Midoriya would know you actually called her and watched his face squish into a defeated yet angered expression. The phone went silent until a feminine voice responded.
"Hello? May i ask who this is?"
"Hey Mrs. Midoriya, do you remember me?"
"...L/n?"
"Yeah."
"Oh my dear, how are you? Is everything okay? We haven't spoken in a while, how are you holding up? Where are you? Is your family okay? You are okay right? Please tell me your okay! Would you like to meet up and maybe catch up some time? I would very much enjoy talking to you!"
She rambled and almost seemed excited as ideas popped into her head. You made eye contact with Midoriya and at this point he seemed livid, as his face turned slightly red out if anger.
"I think meeting up is a great idea, Mrs. Midoriya, you always had such a kind and thoughtful heart after you tried to comfort me when my mom died."
You guilted him. Petty, of course, but you didn't care. You loved his mother even if you didn't like her son.
"Oh of course honey. Any person would do the same! You know, I live in the same house I did when you were a small child! If you remember please visit! If not i can text you the address! I could make you some food! Maybe you and Izuku could catch up and talk!"
"That sounds lovely, but I don't think your son would enjoy my presence."
"Oh nonsense! If that boy does anything I'll make sure he doesn't see the light of day!"
She laughed slightly, and you smiled at her words. You knew she was exaggerating because you were fully aware of how kind and caring she was for him.
"Haha, thank Mrs. Midoriya. Text me a time your free and we can go to a nearby cafe. My grams won't mind."
"Of course, honey I'll be looking forward to it."
You smiled and hung up.
"I see your mom still has a heart."
"Why would you call my mother? Must you be that petty?"
"I guess I do. I always loved your mom. Man what happened to you? You can't be a hero when your running away from your friends."
You laughed and smiled.
"Tell All Might that I didn't talk and just ignored you. He'll believe it."
You got up and snuck out of the beach. You wanted to avoid talking to Akio and having him walk you home, as it had no point to it.
Midoriya walked back to All Might and your trainer.
"She ignored me."
"Yeah! Thats L/n for you! When I first met her she ignored me completely!"
Your trainer smiled and laughed. Midoriya grimaced. That's not how you were before. You were always heroic and helpful when he knew you back then.
"Worry not, young Midoriya! She'll talk eventually!"
The both of them reassured the boy and told him you were just shy, and he mustn't worry about you.
"Where did she go anyway? I gotta take her home after I teach you a few things."
"She uh ran Off! Sorry I couldn't stop her!"
Midoriya rubbed his neck and smiled nervously and apologized multiple times, before All might stopped him.
"Ah..yeah it's okay, kid. I'll find her later."
He suggested ideas for Midoriya on getting stronger while learning other things, like tools he could use, weights that would be helpful and diets that could contribute. The help was greatly appreciated by the boy and he kept into consideration of what would help.
Now, walking home with his list of things he needed, he texted his mom that he was coming home. Once he arrived, his mom welcomed with a hug, in which he returned to her.
"Hey! You'll never guess who I talked to today!"
He slightly frowned, but it was left unnoticed by his mother. He knew exactly who she talked to today and it sort of pissed him off.
"Oh? Who was it? An old friend of yours?"
"Actually, an old friend of yours! She and I were going to go to a café some time to catch up on things. You should come!"
"Oh um that's cool but uh I don't think I should..she doesn't like me anymore!"
She washed her hands under the sink, grabbing plates and pans to wash as well.
"Oh don't be silly, Izuku. Im sure she misses you! You two were so close.."
"Um yeah.. can you call me for dinner when it's ready?"
"Of course."
Midoriya walked up to his room. You didn't miss him and he didn't miss you. He still was angry that you decided to call his mom of all people. he reached for his bag, that was set neatly in his closet. He searched through the bag and unzipped zippers til he found what he was looking for. He opened his hand to reveal the old charm he had matched with you.
Dude im tired and this book really sucks.
