"Then it is my honor and joy to bless our new king," FG knighted Ben with the wand, tapping him on each shoulder. She held it off to the side as she began the next part of her speech.
But the entire crowd gasped as someone yanked the wand from FG's hand.
The wand casted a spell through the air, crashing through the church window.
Looking down on the floor of the church, we saw Jane was clutching onto the wand desperately as she flung it from side to side. The crowd below cowered in fear.
"Child, what are you doing?!" Fairy Godmother called to her daughter, terrified.
"If you won't make me beautiful, I'll do it myself!" Jane exclaimed, trying to cast a spell on herself. As Jane whipped the wand around in the air, Ben ran over to protect Mal and Adam yelled at everyone to take cover.
Mal moved around Ben over to Jane. Jane and Mal fought for a moment, struggling to overtake the other, but Mal soon broke away and now she had a hold of the wand. The crowd gasped once more, huddling together in fear.
Up in the balcony, we all gave each other a look before running down to join Mal.
Running up behind her, Mal was pointing the wand in Ben's direction. "Ben, I said stand back!" She yelled at him. Her voice sounded unsure, but I ignored it. All that mattered was she had the wand, and all we needed to do now was to turn around and make our exit. But no one was moving.
"I told you so!" Audrey spoke up, tying to sound clever and stepping forward from the crowd. All Mal had to do was turn towards her and she backed up real quick.
"Let's go!" Carlos yelled.
"Revenge time," Jay said, eager to leave.
"Come on, Mal," I told her. We're so close let's just leave already.
"You really want to do this?" Ben asked Mal.
"We have no choice, Ben!" Mal exclaimed in frustration. "Our parents-"
"Your parents made their choice. Now you make yours," he told Mal. Mal, still holding the wand in front of her, paused for a moment. She looked towards Ben's parents, then to FG, and back to Ben.
"I think I want to be good," she said, almost a whisper. She began lowering the wand and Ben relaxed a bit.
"You are good." He assured her.
"How do you know that?!" Mal asked, bringing the wand back up.
"Because... because I'm listening to my heart."
Mal stood in silence once again. The others and I were just watching her, waiting for her to make the call. "I want to listen to my heart, too." Mal said, lowering the wand again. "And my heart is telling me that we are NOT our parents." Mal said, turning and facing us. She chuckled as she looked at our faces.
"I mean stealing things doesn't make you happy." Mal said to Jay. "Tourney and victory pizza with the team makes you happy." Jays face lit up with a smile.
"And you," She said towards me. "You love to draw, and make art, that's what makes you happy." she said, and I nodded and smiled at her compliment. "And together you make each other happy!" She said, gesturing to both me and Jay. We looked at each other, and grabbed each others hand. We heard an "awww" resonate in the crowd.
"And you, scratching Dude's belly makes you happy. Who would've thought?" She told Carlos.
And then she turned to Evie. "And E, you do not have to play dumb to get a guy. You are so smart," she told her. Evie's eyes became teary and I also began to tear up. Jay noticed and pulled me into a side hug, his arm around my waist and my arm found the same place around his.
