Outside, Elena and Stefan are walking onto the lawn alone.

"If Esther was secretly on our side, we needed to know. But I couldn't get to her with two bodyguards." Elena said and Stefan sighs in annoyance that she had messed with the family his sister is protecting whilst said sister is here. He's going to need to reason with his sister when she finds out what Elena has done.

"Why are you only telling me this now?" Stefan asked with a frown.

"Because Damon and you didn't seem to want to cause any trouble with them today despite the fact you used to care about killing Klaus more than anyone else." Elena said to him and Stefan reacts looks down in shame at breaking his sisters number one rule. Elena notices his shame and looks at him confused.

"What? Am I wrong? Why do you look so ashamed of that now?" Elena asked him.

"No, you're not wrong. But things have changed." Stefan told her.

"Like what? The only thing that happened these last few days is hearing from your sister." Elena said confused.

"Our sister has some rules set for us like we set some for her. The number one rule she had for us was the most important to her." Stefan says looking at Elena seriously.

"Okay?" Elena says confused on what that has to do with anything.

"Her number one rule was to stay away from a certain family that means a lot to her personally. It was also for our own safety." Stefan says looking to the sky.

"We could never remember the name so we stayed away from anyone with a surname beginning with M." Stefan says taking a deep breath.

"Except for one. The only one that mattered." Stefan says looking at the Mikaelson mansion and Elena stares at Stefan in shock.

"You mean to to tell me that the one family you were supposed to stay away from for your sister was the one we all keep trying to kill?" Elena says in shock. Stefan nods.

"That's insane! What's going to happen to us when she finds out?" Elena said nervously.

"She'll beat me and Damon up because we knew the rule. You guys are in the clear because you weren't told the rules by her or us. Just don't touch any of them from now on." Stefan tells her and she smiled sheepishly.

"What did you do?" Stefan asked seeing the look on her face.

"I may have given Esther some of my blood so she can link them together. Once she does so she was going to kill Finn, who volunteered and that would kill the others. It's going to be in the champagne." Elena rambled out nervously. Stefan just stared blankly at her before swearing.

"Shit. We need to warn them at least. I'm not going to be dying by my sisters hand because my friend had decided to kill the entire family under her protection." Stefan says running a hand through his hair stressed out.

"I'm sorry Stefan. I never wanted you to get in so much trouble with your sister because of me." Elena said to Stefan truthfully and he gives her a weak smile.

"I know. We should of payed more attention to the rules and who we provoke. Just go inside I'll tell Elijah." Stefan told her and started walking off. Elena starts to walk away but stops and turns around.
