Alexander's P.O.V.
When school ended, I removed my shoes and water skied home with my bare feet. As I approach my house, I see a clump.
Literally a clump. I don't know how to explain it. It looks like a clump of I thick clothes with a 'unique' color? Actually, I'm not sure if it's even a color. But I do know there's a chunk of curly brown hair at one end.
Anyway, I moved closer to it with caution. It's starting to look like a massive fetus. I poke it a bit just to find out that's it is soaked in water - hopefully water. I take a deep breath and take stance. I bring my foot back and kicked the misformed fetus looking thing as hard as I could.
"Davuc?" I heard it say as it starts to stand.
"HOLY SHIZZZZ, IT MOVED!" I yell at the 'it' as I realize that the 'it' is a person.
The guy looks at me and tries to copy the terrified look on my face which changes to confusion.
"Hey!" He says as his lips curl up in a smile making a crazy looking face "I've been looking for ya,"
"Who the hell are you!" I say skeptically.
He keeps his lunatic face and says "I help things, all things, everythings!"
"Sir, you're high! I'm not allowed to talk to people who are high!" I say as I Back away from him slowly.
"Where ya going, man?" He says almost disappointed.
"Away from you!" I say now running into the house.
The first thing I notice the moment I am in the house is the smell of good food cooking on the stove. I look around for my mother and ask "What's cooking?"
My mother comes out of the garage with some potatos and cucumbers and a smile on her face.
"Did you talk to the nice man outside?" She asks too excitedly.
"That man," I say with all my disdain "is a mendicant!"
"Don't say that!" She says loosely "Mitchell only pretends to be a hobo,"
"He's obviously on something!" I say angrily.
"Be nice, he's eating dinner with us," she says.
"What kind of an idea is that?!" I say angrily at my mother.
"Over dinner we will learn more about Mitchell," she says surprisingly calm over the fact that I just yelled at her.
"Unbelievable!" I say throwing my hands up in frustration "i don't wanna learn more about him" I stomp out and slam the door.
When I get out to the yard I see Mitchell taking a knee to pet a wolf.
Animals aren't really treated at all in this world anymore. I never understood why they were in the first place. They were a hindrance to the advancement of humans. I kind of hate animals, so when I saw the Wolf being treated like it did nothing to prevent is from reaching our potential I get a pissed off.
"What the eff are you doing!" I say with stupid anger.
My rage was enough to scare the wolf away. As the wolf sprints into the nearby woods, Mitchell waved at it as if it were a friend.
"I'll come for ya soon," he says "don't let the hunters or the troopers catch ya,"
"Let the hunters and the troopers catch 'em" I say feeling hotheaded "they deserve it anyway."
"Hey lighten up, they did nothing wrong" he says buoyantly.
I stayed quiet not knowing what to say next.
"Welp," Mitch says breaking the silence "time for dinner," she practically pushes me inside again.
As we come through the door I see that my father and my grandmother had come home and I haven't noticed.
"Oh hey Dad, hey grandmama," I say tiredly. They both reply at the same time
"Hi son, how ya doin'" says my father.
"Did you talk to the hobo guy yet?!" Says my grandmother.
"Why does everyone want me to talk to the mendicant?" I mumble as I sit in my seat for dinner.
Mitchell sits beside me. "So what's cooking?" He says putting his elbows on the table and picking up utensils.
"Pasta and cucumber potato salad" said my mother excited for us to eat.
"Sounds nice," I say trying to sound polite.
The room was quiet for about five minustes before my grandmother said, "Okay, let's get down to business," she said leaning towards me, "You like animals?"
I looked back at her with confusion.
Before I could respond she says, "Ofcourse you don't and you need to see why you're wrong,"
I rolled my eyes in disgust, "Are you guys going to lecture me, I again!". My family has always tried to get me to care about mistreatmeant to animals and how we humans wouldn't be who we are today if it weren't for them and blah, blah, blah.
"Alexander, This is important!" says my father very sternly, "Mitchell here works with an organization that protects animals from the government."
"Yes, and we have told you many times that this is important," she says looking at my father. She turns back to me and says "Look, for now you're just gonna have to deal with it! Tomorrow, Mitchell is going to take you to his boss for a tour of the organization."
"This is so unfair," I say with every angry nerve in my body "I have no say in this!" i notice that Michell has been quietly eating his food like nothing happend and said, "Why are you doing this to me?"
"I don't control it man," he said as if he has no opinion at all.
"Alexander this is not just about you, you know!" says my parents at the same time.
I get up from the table without pushing in my chair afterwards. I get ready to make my upstairs to my room when I notice the same wolf Mitchell was talking to earlier through the window. The wolf change eye color from blue to green. I didn't want to see that wolf.
"Shew! Bia-!" I almost yelled
Mitchell cut me of with, "Actually the boy's a male-"
"Well, shew! Mitch!" i did the same to him.
I didn't talk to my family the rest of the night, but i stared outside looking at the few creatures out in the forest behind our house.
What's so important about you creatures, I think.
Eventually, I drifted to sleep.
