y/n POV:
After a horrendously cold twenty minute walk I found myself in Jericho. It was a cute little town but not very busy since everybody was at the Academy.
I wasn't one for walking but since I technically wasn't supposed to be leaving the school grounds, I couldn't ask anyone for a ride.

I soon approached what I assumed to be the town centre. There was plenty of stores considering the size of the town and I found myself deciding which ones I would eventually check out. I could see the cafe, the weathervane, at the end of the street so I made my way over. As I reached the door the delicious smell of coffee and pastries filled the air. It was heaven.

The door chimed when I walked in, a few faces turned to look in my direction. Luckily for me if was only a few adults of whom I didn't know and the two boys behind the counter, working. I adverted my eyes to the table in the corner when I saw who worked here. Once I was settled, a boy walked over to me, looking kind of shy. He had brown curly hair and a pretty infectious smile. I reciprocated a smile as he approached my seat.

I was confused about the other boy working here when I quite literally just had an encounter with him, I was stunned yet I had to stay composed to speak to the server that was serving me.

"Hi, you look new. I'm Tyler" I looked down as I fiddled with my fingers, feeling his eyes burning into the side of my skull. After finding the confidence I looked up into his hopeful eyes. "Oh yes I am. My names y/n. I just moved to the Nevermore Academy" his smile vanished almost instantly, giving me a now dazed and confused look. Unsure of what to do I broke the confusion looking at the menu. "Um I think I'll just get a hot chocolate and a grilled cheese please" it was a very simplistic order but it was my staple. Tyler just stood in front of me very nonchalantly, like I didn't just try and order my food.

"Ty, come on she's trying to get her food" the familiar voice stated from behind him. Great. I adjusted awkwardly in my seat as Tyler walked away and Xavier resumed his place. "Sorry about him, he kinda gets stuck in time sometimes.. it's weird I know" he let out a small chuckle as he rubbed the back of his neck, then getting out his notepad. "So um what can I get for you again" I sighed a little as i hate repeating myself but complied anyway, since I didn't want to starve. "It was just a hot chocolate and a grilled cheese" I begin unintentionally tapping my fingers against the cold tables surface, becoming nervous. "Okay, and would you like marshmallows on the hot chocolate" i thought about it for a second before responding calmly. "Sure thanks"

As soon as Xavier left to get my food ready I got out my phone, scrolling through my socials. I couldn't help but notice all of my old 'friends' enjoying there life and doing things I wasn't able to do trapped in this boarding school. My only escape so far was Principal Weems. She was extraordinarily different t any other headmistress I'd ever met. She seemed so caring and intimate that it made me feel connected and safe in her presence.

This newfound crush I had developed felt risky to me. It felt almost gross. I mean a student and a teacher, it sounded fun but not entirely right. I don't even know why I'm thinking about this, it's not like we are going to ever be a thing. She's literally a straight married woman. She just so happened to me a beautifully tall, ethereal, confident woman who was so gentle and kind to me- it was nothing serious.

I was broke out of my thoughts by Xavier bringing me my beverage. "thanks Xavier" I wasn't going to lie to myself, he was acting kind of sweet. The hot chocolate in front of me looked fairly delicious, almost like the best hot chocolate I'd ever had.

"By the way how did you get here so fast? We just spoke at the school?" He looked at me the moment the last word rolled off my tongue as I awaited an answer. "I had woke up rather late today. And when I was making my way to the laundry room to get my work outfit I heard the commotion between you girls outside. Once you had left I had to run upstairs to get changed, that's why I ran back into the school"
