I wake with a start. I sit up on my bed surprised that there was no pain in my head. I must have fallen asleep. I roll over and look at the clock on the table. 7:45! I was asleep for over 7 hours! I look around, I was still in the same room I was in the last time I was awake. I get out of the bed and walk over to the door. I turn the brass handle, surprised to find it unlocked. I walked out of the room to find myself in a long hallway. I walk down the long hallway which splits into four rooms. On my right there is a room that looks like a kitchen and dining room. The two on the left looks like bedrooms. The fourth room looks like a living room and at the very back was what looked like a door. I bolted for it not even checking to see if the cost was clear. All I am hoping for is that the door will open. Please let the door be open! But before I can even get to the door, it opens. I duck behind a chair thinking that someone is coming inside. But no one comes in. A minute passed, then two, then three. Still no one comes through the door. I edge out from behind the chair and walk toward the door. I put my hand on the doorknob but pull it back immediately. Blue sparks sizzle and crackle, then eventually die down.

"That is what we call magic." a voice comes from behind me. But it isn't Señora allen's voice. Slowly I turn around to see who it is. A tall man with dark black hair and light brown eyes was standing on the other side of the room. He was wearing a plain gray sweatshirt with a pair of blue jeans. He looked roughly sixteen or seventeen. "Allow me to introduce myself."He said "My name is Josh Sykes. Lacy sent for me last night to come help you. I hear you are very special." he said with a smile.

"What do you mean 'help me'."I asked looking at him.

"I am going to teach you how to control your powers and how to hide them from the modern world." He responded.

"Anyway... I say trying to take my mind off the fact that I was 'special'. Where is Señora allen?"

"Señora allen?" He asked

"Uh Yeah! The lady who lives here!" I exclaimed

"Ooooh. O.K two things. One she doesn't live here. Two her name is Lacy."

"What?!?!" I exclaimed "I. wh- wha- ho-?"Then there is a blinding flash of blue and the world goes dark again. The last thing I see is Josh's brown eyes.

When I wake up I hear a voice and the quiet rustle of a person in the room. For a second I don't move, but then slowly without making a sound I move my head so I can look over my shoulder. Josh Sykes is standing at the window, his hands on the windowsill concentrating very hard on something. Something that I cannot see nor hear. But then he responds to an unheard question that an unseen person asks.

"I have taken care of Lacy. Yes I have the girl, but I would like to wait a bit just to be sure that she is the one."

I roll back over and lay there in silence stunned at what he has just said. Questions raced through my mind. What just happened? Who was he talking to? I thought he was good? I thought he was on our side? Where was Lacy? What do I do? But none of these were the biggest question I had. What did he mean 'Be sure that she is the one?' What one? What was he talking about? I have to find out what he is planning. If I don't find out what he is up to, I have a very bad feeling that many people will get hurt. Then silently, without me knowing, Josh left the room.
