Meanwhile back at Lily's home her parents were worrying. "Shouldn't she be home from school by now?" but then they just came up with an excuse to why she wasn't home yet. "Oh, she probably just forgot something and then started talking with a friend." or "Oh, the bus is probably just running late." or "Oh, she must have missed the bus and had to walk home." The excuses were endless. But by the time that it was dinner they REALLY started to worry. What if her little brother Sawyer found out. He would worry to death if he knew his sister was missing. They called the police and they said they'd be right over to investigate. They called the school and they said that she was there this morning and had went home sick in the middle of first period. Now they were really worried. "She never came home!" Lily's mom said into the phone. The principal on the other end of the phone gasped then told her to call the police. Lily's mom told her she already had called them. They told the neighbors. They then started a neighborhood search. They drove up and down the streets. They searched the school. They searched the town. They talked to Mrs.Susie, the bus driver, and she drove her bus around asking people if they had seen Lily. People went door to door. But no one could find her. They called the teachers at the school. They said the last time they saw her was at school in the morning. They even asked Señora Allen, who was obviously good at hiding her little secret.
