I finally decide to get up and pretend that I didn't hear anything just so Josh wouldn't get suspicious. I walk towards the door and pull the handle. But it was locked! Wildly, I look around the room. To my surprise Lacy was sitting motionless in the corner of the room. I run over to her and shake her limp figure. She wakes with a start. Her eyes wide and scared. Her skin pale.

"Lacy! Are you ok?" I half ask half shout.

"Yes, Yes. I'm fine." but after that her ice blue eyes roll into the back of her head and she was out cold. I lay her back on the ground and rush back over to the door. Darn! it's still locked. Then I hear footsteps on the other side of the door. I stop tugging at the handle and instead put my ear to the door and listen. The voices are very muffled but I can make out a few sentences. One of the voices was clearly Josh's but the other I didn't know who it belonged to. It was a deep raspy voice.

"Yes I am quite sure that she is the decendant of Adeline Moore. She has blue sparks!"

"Are you positive?" the raspy voice asked.

"Yes! I am absolutely positive! I saw them with my own eyes!" Josh said sounding a bit annoyed.

Very well then. We will take care of her tomorrow, but as for Lacy?"

"She is out cold in the bedroom." Josh said pointing towards the door.

"What?! You put her in the same room Josh! Lacy could teach the girl to use her powers and escape!"

"Yes" He felt like an idiot.

"Well there is nothing that we can do now. The girl could be awake and when we open the door she could run or attack us." The man said more calmly. And with that they walked away, I could hear their footsteps get quieter and quieter until nothing could be heard. I take my ear away from the door. Then I hear a sound coming from the back of the room. I had been concentrating so hard on listening to the conversation outside the closed doors that I hadn't even heard Lacy gain consciousness again. "Are you ok?!"

"Yes. Just a little dizzy." She said. I thought that any second she was going to pass back out again but she didn't. She just sat there staring wide eyed at nothing in particular. Almost as if she was thinking very hard about something or just spaced out. Then out of nowhere she just starts spouting out random words, talking so fast that I could only pick out a few individual words. But I don't think that she was talking to me because she kept looking out the window. "That's it! we could escape out the window!" I get up and run over towards the window and look out of it. "Shoot! I guess we are on the sixth or seventh story up in an apartment building. So I guess that plan wasn't going to work." I started pacing back and forth trying to think of a plan but my mind was blank and I had a hard time concentrating because Lacy would not stop talking! She blabbed on and on. It seemed that her talking would have no end. Finally I was starting to get annoyed and had had enough. "Lacy! can you please stop talking for a minute so I can try to think of a plan to get us out of here?"

"Oh sure. But if you want to get us out of here you might have to use your magic." There was that word again. The word that wasn't supposed to really exist and was only in fairytales and books and movies.

"How am I supposed to use it if I don't even know how to?"

"Simple." she said as if it were a piece of cake. "Just focus your energy and channel it into your sparks. Then focus on an object that you want to do something."

"Fine." I said scowling "But we don't have long. They are coming back tomorrow and it's almost 9:00. If your plan doesn't work then I am going to hurdle us out that window and hope that we can just magically start flying!"

"Sounds good to me" is all Lacy says. So I do what she told me told me to do. I focus all my energy into my 'sparks' and focus on an object. I start out with a vase just to practice. I want the vase to levitate I say in my head.

"You can't just want the object to do something. Will it to move. Demand that it move." Lacy said. Can she read my mind? because that is really creepy. So I tried again. I focused my energy into my sparks and focused it on the vase. Move. It was the only word I had to say that sent the vase flying across the room. I dodged the flying vase. I did the same thing again but this time I demanded the vase to stop and return to the table it had been sitting on. And this time it worked. I gave a shout of excitement but quickly covered my mouth with both of my hands. What if someone was still here? Did I just blow our cover? We waited a few minutes in silence until I was sure that it was clear and had confirmed that no one was currently in the apartment. Then I focused my energy into my sparks and focused on unlocking the bedroom door. It took three or four tries but finally, to my satisfaction, I heard a very faint click.

"Yes!" I whisper. "Come on Lacy, I got the door unlocked." I look over at Lacy.

"Unlocking the door was only half the battle. You still have to check the hallway to make sure that the coast is clear, and you have to do it without opening the door. And even if the coast wasn't clear you wouldn't be able to fight any creature that Josh or worse Victor could have left in the hallway. You are not strong enough nor are you ready to use that much of your magic ability in only a short period of time"

"Ok. But at least I can look see if the coast it clear." But before I can even look ,a creature, which seems to be made out of mud, bursts into the room. "Nope. It's not clear."

"I can tell." Lacy says sarcastically. Then she closes her eyes and opens her palms. While I try to dodge the mud creatures gigantic fists Lacy is focusing her magic. Her eyes snap open, for a moment they turn gold then go back to their original ice blue, and she blows into her palms. Gold dust is carried out of her hand by an unfelt breeze towards the mud creature. The second that the gold dust touched the creature it burned it. It started sizzling, then there would be a flame, then it would die down and there would be a huge scorch mark on the creature. Within the short time of a few seconds the creature was on the ground burning to nothing but a pile of ashes.

"Be careful Lily. Anything could be in that hallway." But what was in that hallway was way worse that any magical creature I have ever seen. What was in that hallway was Victor himself. The most powerful sorcerer in the world. Well second most powerful I guess, according to the prophecy. He had short red hair and a long scar that ran the length of his face. It went across one eye, making him half blind. Which just made him even more scary. He had his hands at his sides, palms upturned glowing a sickly yellow green color. He had a smile on his face. Not a smile of joy, but one of cruelty.

"Hello Lacy. Hello Lily. How kind of you to stop by." he said in a raspy voice. The same one I had heard only minutes earlier. At that point in time I knew we were in big trouble.
