𝐃𝐈𝐀𝐍𝐀 𝐋𝐎𝐏𝐄𝐙. the hopeless romantic just looking for love.
Diana and Joel's past go back a long time. The two met freshman year of highschool and stayed friends even after graduation. the two had a 'special bond' as their friends would say. but the thing is everyone was wanting them to be a couple. why? because they see how happy the two are with each other.
however Joel had already been in a relationship so the two mostly saw their friends comments as jokes. but once that relationship ended, Joel didn't know how to cope. He'd drown himself in booze until he'd pass out. the only time Diana saw him sober was when he was around sarah.
Diana wanted Joel to find a healthier coping mechanism and expressed to him how she felt about his drinking. that's when Joel told her what he wanted. he wanted something that would take his mind off of his ex. he wanted something he wouldn't be able to take his eyes off of. he wanted to biggest distraction just so he wouldn't think about his ex.
that was the beginning of their 'relationship'. but they agreed it would be one friend helping out another. Joel simply wanted a distraction and found it meaningless. but as the two continued on with this 'relationship' Diana developed feelings for Joel. she stopped seeing him as her good friend Joel who was the biggest grump but also the sweetest person ever.
instead she started recognizing him more. she started seeing how handsome he really was. how he can charming at times but shows he still has feelings. how he acts cold hearted but he does really care for her. how he can look so tough but be so gentle at the same time.
however Joel didn't feel the same way. instead he was actually angry. he believed it was unreasonable of her to ask him on a date 'just' after he got out a serious relationship. but his idea of just getting out of a relationship is 2-3 months of being single. she knew his feelings got the best of him but it still hurt her. after, the two lost touch.
