𝐈𝐓 𝐇𝐀𝐃 𝐁𝐄𝐄𝐍 𝐇𝐎𝐔𝐑𝐒 since the two had stopped. the girl begged and pleaded for him to let them at least rest. however what she didn't see was that he wanted to get out of this city and quickly. nothing good comes with a strange city with dangerous people. the man complied with her, letting her rest. but he hadn't realized how tired he really was.
letting his guard down and falling asleep, not far from the girl, what he didn't know was that there were two others not far behind.

"Joel..." the girl said while holding her hands up. "Joel!!" She said, even louder the second time, causing the man to stir awake. once he saw a stranger with a gun to Ellie's head he went to move but then froze, looking forward at the kid with a gun raised at him.
"eyes on me !" the older man with the gun said in a raised tone before once again saying "eyes on me..." a little quieter. Joel slowly turned toward the stranger, a glare on his face. The man with a gun to Ellie's head then said "we don't wanna hurt you... we wanna help". Joel kept eye contact with the man, keeping his hands up before croaking out an "ok". he only said one word but with the way he sound, it made him seem like the minute they drop their guns he'd kill them.
"ok uh..." the man said, pausing before shrugging his shoulders then saying "I don't really know what to do after this... if I lower my gun, we didn't hurt you so you wouldn't hurt us... right?". Joel remained frozen in the same position, still keeping eye contact with the man. he then said "that's right" in a low tone. this confused the man. he glanced at the girl, letting out a scoff then saying "that's a weird fuckin tone man".
Ellie glanced at the man behind her then back at Joel before saying "he just sounds like an asshole, Joel tell him he's okay". Ellie gave Joel a serious look, telling him to try and not sound like an asshole. "Everything's great" Joel said in a monotone voice. Ellie shook her head, letting out a scoff then saying "dude".
"Fuck..." the man said under his breath before taking a deep breath then saying "listen... I'm gonna trust you". he looked over toward the little boy who was holding a gun to Joel. he then used sign language to speak with him. 'I'm gonna trust them'. The boy raised a brow to the man before signing back 'Are you sure?'. The man nodded at the boy then turned back to Joel before saying "But if you try anything-" he then gestured his gun toward Ellie.
"yea?" The man asked. Ellie let out a breathless "yea". Joel said nothing. Instead he glanced toward the kid who still had his gun raised to Joel. The man swated his hand at the boy. The boy stepped back, away from Joel's sleeping bag. "Can I sit up?" Joel asked, keeping his hands raised. The man nodded to him. Joel moved, going to sit up but stopped when the man said "slow!!... get up slow". Joel starred at the man for a bit before he slowly sat up.
