Misaka couldn’t seem to think, couldn’t even see straight. The world seemed like it was slanted, turning and rotating at the edges of her eyes. It would start to close in on her before opening up again. A loud pulsing sound coming from her chest, drowning out the sound of the words of these people she was with.

Every single bit of rage she felt earlier diminished into nothingness. Every single loss she thought she’d felt crumbled into dust. Every single fear and sadness was reduced to a soft whimper. How could it not be that way?

Yesterday, she thought she was going to explode. She thought she was going to go crazy. She’d never felt such overwhelming loss before. It was worse than she ever imagined possible, because her instinct told her that if her emotions could go ballistic just by reading it, what would happen if she were to be met with the perpetrator himself?

But after one brief look at him, everything went away like a breeze in the air. Every single bit of her anger, frustration, and hatred had vanished. Replaced with confusion, a sense of sympathy for him, and a sense of being so deeply stirred that it felt like her whole heart was alive in the pit of her stomach.

He was not like the monsters she had imagined him to be. She thought that with the monstrous, inhumane deeds he's done, surely he must've looked like one himself, right?

But he didn't.

He was a fucking kid!

That fact was indisputable. And from the looks of it, he was no older than 12. His build is as fragile as a dry wooden stick, and his facial features are so delicate, they look as though they would shatter at the slightest touch. His skin is like silk, more translucent than she'd ever seen, ghastly pale and thin as paper, giving him a strangely angelic and sickly look. He looks as though he could easily perish in one swipe of a sword, or even one sneeze.

Despite his mere years, his eyes harbour the coldness of a thousand seas, and a dark rage for the world that she would never imagine a child to harbour. He has to be either possessed or the reincarnation of some world war veterans who have witnessed more deaths than they should have possible. It’s uncanny to look at. If she were to gaze into his eyes for more than a few seconds, she would see a white coating of mist in every one, impenetrable and unbreakable.

She thought that she was so angry she had gone mad. But looking at this child, she was sure she was still sane after all.

"Oi."

The boy spoke, his tone carrying just as much malice as his eyes did. His voice seemed to carry just as much as his dark presence, a kind of malignant voice.

It made her tremble.

His eyes darted back to the clone behind her, their gaze meeting. The empty, blank, soulless stare the clone gave off met his serious, chilling gaze.

"Go on ahead. I'll be there after. I've got some shits to talk with her first."

He instructed the clone. She appears to be hesitating, wishing not to leave the original's side with him of all people, lest they wouldn't mind having the original's life to be left in jeopardy. The clone was aware of Original's relationship with the previous clone. How and where she found out of the project's existence were unknown. Perhaps they let out a bit too much info yesterday. Regardless, this discovery shall be spread through the network. One of the other clones will report it right away to the higher ups.
