WARNING! Has some gruesome elements!

———

Ember Virupit (Virtus erupit) is a muggle-born squib. In other words, she has a little more magic than muggles, like squibs, but not enough to get a hogwarts letter. Also, she can see things muggles normally can't, like dementors and thestrals (once she has seen someone die). Muggle-repelling charms and spells that only affect muggles have no effect on her.

When she was 7, she went to the park and overheard Harry and Dudley talking. She squeaked really loudly when Dudley said Harry isn't brave at night, in bed. Having misunderstood the meaning, she clasped her ears and said, "Adult things! They're not for a child's ears!" Harry quickly tried to explain that it was a misunderstanding, and when Dudley said Harry had been having nightmares, she finally let go of her ears.

She walked with them back home, as she coincidentally lives right next door to them. When the alley got dark and cold, she grabbed Harry's clothes for comfort. When Harry lit up his wand and the dementors were shown, she panicked and sucker punched the one close to Harry in the face, then ran and kicked the one over Dudley in the face. Then Harry cast his patronus and she held onto him as he carried Dudley home. He told her to eat some chocolate to feel better.

She loves reading and is a big fan of The Lord Of The Rings, so when she first sees Dumbledore, she excitedly mistook him for Gandalf. He gently told her that's he's not Gandalf, which made her ask in sadness, "So you're not an old, wise and powerful wizard who fights for good?" To which he replied that he is, but he is Dumbledore. She said, "Don't insult yourself, mister. I'm sure you're a smart and, young, er - window." He chuckled and said that's his surname. He explained the situation to her widowed mother, then later took her to the ministry to testify.

In the summer of 1996, she actually spent a lot of time with Harry, usually in the park. She asked him all sorts of questions about the magical world and he happily told her stories of his many adventures around Hogwarts. He had also given her his old textbooks, as she asked him for them. The next summer, she would go to his house instead and they would talk a lot again, until he had to leave. She was sad, as she had come to think of him as something of a big brother.

When Voldemort had taken over the ministry, he found out that she could see dementors, but her name isn't on the list of future students for Hogwarts (she was 9 at the time). He thought she was a squib, but when he was told that her parents were muggles, he got very curious. Even more so when he found out she's friends with Harry and has spent a lot of time with him.

He had his death eaters kidnap her. When they arrived, there was a struggle, but in the end Ember went with them willingly as long as they didn't harm her mother, but she was annoying them so they stunned her. When she woke up Bill and Arthur were there and said they would do everything they can to rescue her daughter.

Voldemort ran all sorts of tests on Ember, and then conducted experiments in an attempt to strengthen her magic power, to see if he can do the same for himself. His results were a failure, so he kept her locked in the cellar and sometimes vented his anger by torturing her. The only reason why he kept her alive is because he thought that his experiments might show results long-term. Around March, he gave her an experimental version of an everlasting elixir of a variation of the potent exstimulo potion.

She was rescued by Harry and Dobby and taken care of and healed by the Weasleys. Bill immediately went to her mother. Just in time, too, for she was about to swallow a bottle of pills. He told her they found her daughter, and told her to pack her bags, then took her to Aunt Muriel's house, where Ember was being healed.

When she saw her daughter, she broke down crying and wanted to hold her tight, but was held back by the Weasleys as Ember was still greatly injured. When she collected herself, they told her that Dobby rescued her, but died from the wounds he got during the rescue mission. When she asked what had happened to Ember, they informed her she had been experimented on and tortured. The mother was devastated and constantly apologised to Ember, even though she was in a coma. After 3 weeks Ember had woken up. The day after the Battle Of Hogwarts was over, she was finally healed enough to return home with her mother. They invited everyone to Ember's tenth birthday party, which was exactly two weeks after they left. It was the best birthday Ember had ever had.

Unbeknownst to The Order, the experiments did actually have long-term results in increasing her magic. Harry had kept visiting frequently, but he didn't realise that. However, it had become too powerful and, shortly before her eleventh birthday, she couldn't control it, causing it to accidentally explode and kill her mother.

Harry, a new auror in training, was sent to investigate the magic explosion with his mentor, since it happened right next to his old house. He immediately realised who lived there and rushed to the scene. When he arrived, he saw little Ember grieving horribly and clutching tightly to her mother's burnt corpse. He wanted to take her in himself, but he was too busy. So he asked the Weasleys to take care of her and help her control her magic, which the readily agreed to. He still visited her often, though, and they really became like siblings.

At first she hated her name, then she bitterly thought that it was very fitting. Later on she came to accept and even embrace it. She was very good with pyromancy, even wandlessly. She quickly learnt the flame-in-hand spell that Lupin once used on the train. She also learned how to conjure bluebell flames. When she was very angry her hands would sometimes erupt in flames and she could throw fireballs.

She actually got a invitation letter to Hogwarts, meaning the experimentation had turned her into a true witch. The Weasleys decided to not send her there, though, as her magic was still uncontrollable and could have disastrous effects. She trained her control over the years and was finally allowed to start at Hogwarts for her fifth year, in 2003. Neville was already the Herbology teacher by then.

She was sorted into Ravenclaw. She had chosen Ancient Runes, Arithmancy, and Care Of Magical Creatures as her subjects. She had technically already finished studying for her NEWTs, she was at Hogwarts to get her official credentials, but more importantly for the massive library.

She became frustrated that vial, phial and bottle meant the same thing, so she organised potion containers by size, from smallest to largest: vial, phial, philter, bottle, jug.

She became quick friends with Maisie Cattermole, the enigmatic Hufflepuff in her year. As they spent more and more time together, they came to realise that they liked each other in a way that friends definitely don't.

In her sixth year, she encountered a member of the Dragon Race, from space, who gave her her egg.

In her seventh year, just before she turned 18, she completed her Sage's Pendant. Soon after, she discusses immortality and exploring the universe with Maisie, but she isn't interested. They end up drifting apart and eventually breaking up.

After she graduated, she was visited by Riley and got an invitation to join Astrum Academy. She accepted.
