Sirius has a daughter, who he named Widow, mostly for the moment when she's called to be sorted as, "Black, Widow" and also because he wouldn't want her to marry, maybe. She was born on 17 May 1981 and sorted into Ravenclaw. James and Lily were her godparents. She went to a muggle primary school, because her mother thought that would teach her more about them.

When Dumbledore finds out Sirius is innocent, he, along with Sirius, visit Emmeline and Widow over the summer to explain what had happened. Emmeline had never believed him to have betrayed James, and always thought something weird was going on. She fought for him to have a trial, but they wouldn't listen.

She readily accepted Sirius, and the two soon became lovers again. Widow was a bit hesitant at first, but quickly warmed up to him and they became very close. Widow started to loathe Dumbledore because she realised he had enough authority to allow Sirius a trial and didn't do it.

When they moved into 12 Grimmauld Place, she was kind to Kreacher and scolded her dad whenever he was mean to him. She sometimes had him over in her room and gave him equipment to draw with, along with tea and biscuits. He quickly started liking drawing and became rather very fond of and loyal to Widow. Because of Widow's influence, everyone started treating Kreacher nicely and he, in turn, became much nicer to them as well.

When Molly made terrible remarks towards Sirius, she became absolutely infuriated with her and yelled at her. Her mother, Emmeline Vance, was there too and comforted her after defending Sirius as well.

When Sirius screamed at Kreacher to "Get Out!" she knelt down to his eye level and told him he may not leave the house for his own safety, then gently patted him on the head. She then scolded Sirius for being rude and for not being clear with his words and instructions.

On the last day of the summer holidays, Emmeline found out she's about two weeks pregnant and they celebrated it. She gave birth to a baby girl on Widow's 15th birthday and named her Dorlene, after Dorcas Meadowes and Marlene McKinnon. They asked Remus to be godfather and Tonks be be godmother, they both agreed.

On the day of the History Of Magic Exam, Buckbeak coincidentally broke his leg and both Sirius and Kreacher went to help him and nobody else was in the house. Widow went with Harry to the Department Of Mysteries and saw her father, Sirius, die. She ran up to the veil and just as she was about to jump into it, Dumbledore cast arresto momentum on her, stopping her just a centimetre from it. He pulled her back to safety. She became stricken with grief.

After that, her mother said she's going to do more work for the Order and it would be too dangerous for her and Dorlene to stay there, so she wanted to send her to Mrs Weasley to take care of them, despite the fact that neither of them liked her. Widow vehemently refused, and after a while Emmeline suggested they go stay with Tonks considering she's Dorlene's godmother, to which Widow said she's still too young and doesn't know how to care for a baby. Emmeline then suggested Tonks's mother, Andromeda, to which Widow finally agreed.

Emmeline inherited everything Sirius owned, on the condition that she treat Harry as her own son, and Dumbledore visited her to sort out Kreacher's situation.

Soon after that Mr Weasley arrived and told them Emmeline and the entire Vance family were killed as well, leaving Widow terribly heart-broken and her and Dorlene orphans. Widow wanted to drop out of Hogwarts to take care of Dorlene, but Andromeda refused to allow it and after much arguing she persuaded Widow to continue school, on the condition that Andromeda puts every protection charm she can around the house and takes good care of Dorlene and sends a lot of pictures to Widow.

Emmeline split everything she owned between Widow, Dorlene and Harry. Harry got Grimmauld Place and Kreacher, while Widow and Dorlene got the Vance residence and the Vance Vaults. All three got equal ownership of the Black Vaults at Gringotts. It may seem unfair at first, but the Vance Vaults are only worth a little more than the residence, which is about equally as worth as 12 Grimmauld Place, so they each get the same amount, a little more than a residence worth plus a third of the Black Vaults' worth.

Dorlene was the only thing that really kept Widow stable and sort of happy, so when she went to Hogwarts she became very depressed and could hardly talk or do anything, the only real comfort she got was whenever Andromeda sent pictures of Dorlene. Luna tried her best to get Widow to eat and sleep, to limited success. She was rather sickly when she went to Andromeda's house during the Christmas holidays, but she soon cheered up and began eating again because of spending time with Dorlene.
