| RED'S POV |
I still didn't understand what Avery meant by my new roommate doesn't like contact with people. The possibilities raced through her mind-was she bipolar or dangerous, a sadist, or someone who despised physical contact?"Red," a gentle voice called out, breaking her train of thought. It was Avery, looking at her with concern.
"Yeah," I replied, attempting to sound brave, though I doubted Avery bought it.
"I hope you're not bothered thinking about Ana's situation. It's just complicated," Avery reassured me.
"Ana?" I questioned, trying to piece the information together. "Is that her name?"
Avery nodded, widening her eyes as if she realized she had made a mistake. "Shoot, I wasn't supposed to tell you her name yet."
"Why?" I asked, puzzled by Avery's reaction.
"She wanted to introduce herself to you. So just act normal, okay?" Avery explained.
I nodded, my mind filled with questions and uncertainties. As Avery opened the door to their new room, my anticipation grew. It would be my first time sharing a living space with someone other than Aunt May, and I couldn't help but feel a twinge of fear.
Would Ana be mean? Would she find me annoying? Would my peculiarities gross her out? Despite my worries, I hoped that our living arrangement would work out. Being closer to Avery's room was a definite plus, and my anticipated spending more time with my friend.
Avery swung open the door, and I was taken aback by what I saw. The room was surprisingly pretty, adorned with glitter and sparkle. It was nothing like the dark and creepy space she had imagined. The room was divided evenly, with ample space for two occupants-or even more.
"Wow, Ana, you've outdone yourself today," Avery exclaimed, just as surprised by the room's appearance.
"What can I say?" a voice responded from an unseen source. "Boo!" Red screamed, startled, and fell to the floor.
"I almost died," I gasped, my heart racing from the sudden scare.
"Wow, you're full of surprises," I exclaimed as Ana finally arrived. I couldn't help but take a good look at her.
"Why must they all look so alluring?" I wondered silently, mesmerized by her beauty. Her grey hair looked soft, her blue eyes shimmered with light, and her facial features were flawlessly structured-so perfect that Red couldn't help but feel a slight pang of jealousy.
"Even her light dark skin is glowing! What do they use?" I pondered in thought, unable to tear my gaze away.
"Ana, you have to be careful sneaking up like that. She's new here," Avery, another roommate, warned as she carried me without any difficulty.
"Oh, oops! Really sorry. I just got so happy that I finally have a roommate," Ana apologized, her smile so bright that I couldn't even be annoyed by her near-miss.
"It's alright, but I hope that's the last time," I said, hoping for a bit of caution.
"We'll see, cutie," Ana winked at me, and I felt a blush creep onto my cheeks.
"Oh no, you're not going all sexual on Red here," Avery interjected, throwing me off guard.
"Huh? Sexual?" I stammered, my mind racing.
