My eyes flew open, something I haven't been able to do for what seems like forever. I took the biggest breath my lungs could handle and let go.
Looking up, I notice the ceiling is stone. Where am I? Am I underground?
"What the hell?" My head snapped to the side to see a woman I've never seen before. Dark hair, dark skin, older then me but still young and beautiful. But her clothes, now that I really don't understand.
I don't recognise her at all.
I sat up on the soft surface, slightly stretching. Looking around I noticed the whole room was stone, we must be underground, we have to be.
"Who are you?" Her voice filled my ears again. I opened my mouth to respond but nothing came out.
I don't know this girl. She could be working for Esther for all I know. But then again, why would Esther put me to sleep just to wake me up again. Esther should be long dead anyway, right?
"What year is it?" I mumble. I don't know how long I've been out, a lot could have changed. It could've been a week, it could've been a year, it could've been a decade, I don't know.
"Who. Are. You." The woman ignored my question and asked me again. Something tells me she's scared of me. Why would she be scared of me? I'm human, I can't do anything.
"A friend. Now what year is it?"
"Two thousand and eleven(2011)."
It's been over a thousand years.
"Who are you to Klaus?" She asked and my head snapped. Klaus? As in Niklaus? It might not be the same, but hearing just the slightest part of his name sends chills all through me.
I slowly move my legs over the side of the - coffin? I'm in a coffin? Why would this woman open a coffin?
She quickly raises her hand in defence. What's her hand going to do? Oh, she's a witch! That must be how she woke me. She must be incredibly powerful to overthrow Esther's spell.
"I'm not going to do anything" I tell her sincerely. She looks at me strangely before lowering her hand.
"You're human" she acknowledges, I don't know if it was meant to be a question but it sounded like a statement.
As I sit on the edge of my coffin, I put out my hands. I haven't stood for centuries, I'm going to need some help whether I trust this woman or not.
She takes my hands and I slide off the wood, falling onto the ground as soon as my feet hit the floor. The woman helped me up but I continued to wobble. "You okay?" I simply nodded, finding some balance.
"Where is Niklaus?" I ask her, but she seems cautious which I understand. It's not everyday you open a coffin and have no idea who or what's inside.
"How do you know Klaus?" I could hear that her teeth were gritted, so she must not like Klaus. She shouldn't be the one asking questions, I'm the one who's been asleep for centuries.
"Why did you wake me?" I try asking a different question but she still looks like she's unsure on what she can say.
"My daughter needs your help" she replies.
"Abbey, I think I-" a teenage girl suddenly comes running in here but stops talking at the sight of me. The daughter I assume. I wonder why she calls her mother by her first name, but I can tell where she gets her beauty from.
She slammed her jaw shut but started to open it again, only to close it yet again.
"Where is Niklaus?" I ask again. I feel like I'm continuously repeating myself, is there something wrong with this centuries hearing?
"How do you know Klaus?" The younger woman started walking towards me with hesitation. I won't bite! Goodness me. And honestly, this whole 'how do you know Klaus' thing is getting old.
"Where is he?!" I shouted. Why can't these people just answer my questions? I have a lot of them.
"He's not here. He doesn't even know we were trying to open your coffin" she answered and my heart fell. He doesn't know. He doesn't know I'm awake. I need to find him, now.
"Why were you trying to open my coffin?" I say, still pining for more details as to why I'm here if these women don't even like Klaus. It couldn't have been a favour or surprise, so why would they do this?
"We're hoping you'll help us."
"Help you do what exactly?"
"Kill Klaus."
My heart dropped. These people want to kill Klaus. They want to kill the love of my life. What has Niklaus done? Is he off the rails or something?
I shuffled back, hitting the side of the coffin with my back. These witches are strong, they could do serious damage to Niklaus which means they could snap me like a twig.
Oh my.
My eyes frantically searched the room, trying to find an opening of some kind. Once I spot one, I attempt to run for it but am stopped by the younger woman. She grabs me from behind by my arms and I struggle until suddenly the other woman blows some powder in my face.
Darkness consumes me.
