"What are you doing Alaric? They're your friends, your family. How could you do this to them?" I can't help but ask, pulling my knees to my chest as I sit on the cold floor.

Night has finally fallen. Esther wasted no time to go get Elena for a reason I'm unaware of, leaving me alone with Alaric, my wrists still tied behind my back and my magic still in check.

"Don't try to make me feel guilty, it won't work. You don't care about anyone but your precious Klaus." He hadn't stopped pacing, not because he's worried or anything, simply because he couldn't do anything else in this stupid cemetery.

I scoff. "I love Klaus and I care whether he lives or dies, but not only him. You might not believe this but the Mikaelson's are the closest people I have to family, and Esther is trying to kill not only Klaus but all of them. Along with the entire vampire race."

I can barely breathe knowing their lives are in danger.

"I would've thought you'd know what that feels like, being the only family Elena and Jeremy have. I'm surprised you can live with yourself, knowing they'll never forgive you for killing everyone they care about."

Tears begin to fall down my cheeks and all I have to wipe them away are my knees.

My heartfelt moment was cut short by the sound of Esther's voice.

"You'll forgive me for taking you away from the dance this evening. That's the burden for being the doppelganger I'm afraid. Your blood is a potent binding agent for a witch's spell."

Alaric starts to make his way outside while I don't feel the need to go anywhere.

"Just please don't hurt Alaric." I hear Elena say.

Honey, he's not who you should be worried about.

"She's not hurting me." Alaric's voice joins the party.

"Ric. What's going on? What are you doing with him?" obviously the question was pointed at Esther; however I don't understand why Elena wouldn't ask Alaric herself.

"I'm going to remake him. Make him strong and fast, like my children. Indestructible. For one final time, I'm going to tap into the dark magic I used a thousand years ago. Like my husband Mikael before him, I will make Alaric into a true hunter, the vampire to end all vampires."

Another shiver ran up my spine. To end all vampires...

"You can't create another original. What if he turns out to be an even bigger monster than your children?"

I hate that word, monster.

"He won't, now that he's embraced his darkest aspect. His hatred for them will become more pure and uncompromising. In death, that hatred will be magnified."

"You don't know that. You don't know anything about him."

"That is where you're wrong. Each time he died with that ring, during his brief journey into death, I was there on the other side. I spoke to him. I nurtured him, knowing that every death brought him closer to his true self."

Am I the only one who finds that incredibly creepy? She nurtured him? He's a grown man.

"Vampires took everything from him. Now he's getting his vengeance."

Suddenly I feel the rush of power run through my veins, and a deep breath leaves my mouth.

The eight hours are up.

I quickly use my magic to break free of my bounds, grasping my wrists as they ached.

My head looks around drastically, making sure the coast is clear before I rise from the floor.
