~ There's Nothing Holdin' Me Back - Shawn Mendes ~

Short and simple chapter

~ ~ ~ 3rd person POV ~ ~ ~

"Damon!" Rebekah yells, stepping off the elevator. The sight of thousands of storage lockers claiming her view.

She knew she had to be quick, but Damon's inability to reply was a major factor as to how long she'd be in sight.

"Damon, where are you?" She calls out, walking down an isle of storage lockers. She closely looks at each one, watching out for any locks that had been ripped off it's hinges.

None stood out.

"Damon, this isn't funny!" She calls out again.

A feeling washes over her, a bad one, and her feet instantly still. She listens closely, the sound of lockers being pulled open, over and over filling her ears.

Just like that, she's pulled out of the open and into a dark corner. She attempts to fight back until she notices the gentle touch of the hand against her mouth.

"Shh" Damon whispers against her ear.

All of this is enough to warn her, Alaric is there.

They both know they have to get out of there as soon as possible. Only problem being they need to some how get a casket out without him noticing.

They move quickly, what they hope is quickly enough.

Rebekah holds back her sigh of relief when she sees her brothers casket. Damon however feels nothing as he begins to push on the casket, the wheels rolling on the concrete.

Again, they have to move quickly, and as quietly as possible.

Not only Rebekah, but also Damon feel slight relief as they finally reach the car with an abnormally large boot.

They think too soon, as Alaric shows up in front of them.

In the fastest move imaginable, Alaric takes Rebekah by the neck and slams her head into the back of the car, before throwing her across the room.

So fast, even an original didn't see it coming.

Damon charges towards him, giving Alaric just enough time to lift up his leg and literally kick him to the ground.

"No!" Rebekah screams, the pain evident in her voice.

Alaric doesn't waste anytime, allowing absolutely no time to be stopped. He lifts the lid of the casket and in one fall swoop, pulls the white oak stake from his jacket and plunges it through Klaus' chest.

It happens so fast, the sound of Rebekah and Damon yelling drowns out.

"No! No! No! No! No!"

Damon has to hold her back from running at him, knowing full well that Rebekah will be next if she's not careful.

Her cries are all the two men can hear as Klaus' chest goes up in flames.

Alaric rips the stake from his burning flesh, his attention fully turning to Rebekah. The look in his eyes telling them all they needed to know.

"Rebekah run!" Damon yells, pushing her away from him.

She had to leave.

Or she'd be next.

So she runs like she's been doing for a thousand years, only this time she doesn't have Klaus to run with.

And the place she's running to, has the woman who loved Klaus more than she did.
