Chapter 65 - Banquet (2)

Feeling reassured, his lips curved upward and he
said, "My mother died the year I turned 14. My
dad's still alive and kicking. As for the generation
above that, there are my grandmother and Aunt Hu,
who had taken care of grandmother since she was
a child. Well, we say 'taking care of', but Aunt Hu is
not young anymore. She mainly stays there to keep
my grandmother company now. I also have two
aunties, both of them married. My second aunt is
the one who stays with my grandmother a lot. Her
daughter stays oversea with her entire family and
my uncle is always busy with work, so you will see
her a lot when you go over to the Mu's. Because of

After his brief introduction of his family situation, he held her hand with his large hand and said, "But, don't worry about a thing. I will be there and won't let them go too far."

Xu Lisa nodded at him, gesturing that she
understood everything that he had just told her. "My
family... I have an older sister. She's still single. My
mom passed away early and my father, too, is alive
and kicking. I don't have a lot of contact with him
anymore. He only remembers me when he needs
money so I blocked him a while back."

"It seems we are quite alike in that perspective, would you say?"

Mu Jungkook leaned closer to her. "I only told you all that to prep you for the Mu's family banquet. Why did you tell me about yourself? Do you think we are matchmaking right now?"

The man seemed to have become even more
attractive after she hadn't seen him in a while....

Xu Lisa blushes a little and said, "I was... reporting
the situation to my employer."

He chuckled and put out his cigarette.

On the night of the banquet, Xu Lisa changed into
the dress that Mu Jungkook had gotten for her early in time and headed with him over to the Mu's mansion.

Although, even though it was a "house banquet",
but the entire living room on the first floor was
completely empty. Not even an aunty was there to wait on them.

shoulder and said, "I will only be gone for a little
while. You wait for me here. Call me if anyone gives
you a hard time."

That was obviously meant for Aunt Hu and Aunt Hu
got it as well. She bobbed her head unhappily and
made another snide remark. "A girl who was so good at kissing up to someone of power, who'd...."

She didn't get to finish her sentence before she was
stopped by a piercing look from Mu Jungkook. She
quickly turned around and took Mu Jungkook to the old madam.

Xu Lisa, having nothing better to do, sat there and
eavesdropped on what was going on.
