PHILOSOPHER.
Chapter 14.
╚═══════════✧₊∘╝October begins, and the students seem to have all settled back into their studies, the first-years start to pick up the rhythm of learning new spells and magical techniques from the teachers.
Mattheo is quickly excelling in his Duelling and Defence Against the Dark Arts classes, and sneaking off to train with the Slytherin Quidditch team during the evening (their first match up being the end of the month after Halloween).
Frey and Delphini are become quite adept with their Herbology, and have even started growing a little garden of magical plants for Hagrid. A patch of flowers out of the back of his house for him to enjoy while he has evening tea.
Lorenzo is learning that his capacity for learning languages is extraordinary, which is helping him understand Transfiguration better than most students, and he's set his sights to learning the muggle language French. And Lorenzo is still adamant that he's able to talk to magical creatures from time to time, though there's no proof.
Artemis is signing up for whatever clubs that she can get her hands on, as she wants to make the most out of her time at Hogwarts. Her pep squad outfit arrived early on morning, and she couldn't wait to show it off to the girls.
And they don't seem to get in any trouble for a few weeks, until one morning a package arrives for Artemis. Artemis immediately knows what is in the wooden box that drops into her lap, the same box that Atlas was sent his supplies in during his first year.
Artemis smiles as she sees the box has arrived, she had forgotten that the ritual was to happen so soon, but her birthday is fast approaching.
"What's in the box?" Frey asks her best friend. A wooden box with an intricate bird pattern carved in the lid.
"Something amazing" Artemis tells Frey. Artemis can't help but smile at the thought of what she might turn into when she finishes this ritual, luckily she's done the hard part of the ritual over the summer.
Artemis opens the box. She already has a crystal phial with the ingredients inside (a mandrake leaf that Artemis had to keep in her mouth for a month, a strand of hair, a teaspoon of dew, and the chrysalis of a Death-Hawk Moth.
Frey has to squint to see the ingredients inside. "Ew" Frey tells Artemis. "What is this for again?" Frey asks Artemis.
"Something that I have to do before the end of the month" Artemis tells Frey. "My family have this tradition from when Hogwarts was first founded, that we would put ourselves ahead of other students by performing a permanent self-transfiguration" Artemis informs Frey.
"A self-transfiguration? What's that all about?" Frey asks Artemis. It sounds both dangerous and dirty at the same time, and Frey can't wait to hear more about it.
"This is a potion to become an animagus" Artemis smiles to Frey. "It means I can turn into an animal form whenever I want to, and if I want to prove myself as a strong member of the family then I need to keep up with the tradition" Artemis informs Frey.
Artemis hopes that she turns into something with wings. Being able to fly about the castle sounds heavenly. The perfect escape away from her constant stalker.
