PHILOSOPHER.
Chapter 28.
╚═══════════✧₊∘╝Mattheo could think of no excuse that was going to get them out of this mess. McGonagall was going to take no excuse for them all being out of bed at this time of night. Mattheo only prays that she isn't suddenly believing the dragon smuggling story from Draco Malfoy.
When they reach McGonagall's office, Draco is inside and he's shaking with fear, and Frey is sitting in one of the seats (she looks relieved to see all of her friends are safe and don't have a dragon in tow).
"Sit!" Is all that McGonagall hisses to them.
Mattheo, Lorenzo and Artemis don't dare to defy them when McGonagall is angry. Not only is she a strict disciplinarian, but one of the only two people in the school that has the power to expel them from Hogwarts.
Mattheo and Lorenzo take seats on the couch next to Frey, and Artemis sits on the arm, no one really wanting to sit with Draco.
"I would never have believed it, of any of you, wandering around the castle at night" McGonagall says. "Explain yourselves?!" McGonagall demands of them.
Not one of them have an answer that wouldn't get Hagrid into serious trouble. If Hagrid was known to have had a dragon then he would be arrested.
They could be arrested for helping to smuggling a dragon out of the country.
Hogwarts' reputation could be dragged through the mud when news got out to the wider wizarding world.
Even some of the teachers might have gotten in serious trouble for having what is essentially a smuggling operation running on school grounds.
"It does not take a genius to understand what has happened here tonight. One of you have concocted some wild story to get your friend Miss Lestrange into trouble..." McGonagall begins.
"Do not call Iris Lestrange my friend!" Artemis spits back, which makes Mattheo fearful for what McGonagall might say to that. Yet, Artemis doesn't drop the sneer that warns McGonagall off making such a comment again.
McGonagall decides to ignore that outburst. "She in turn told her cousin, Draco. While she has her head screwed on properly and stayed in bed, you, Mr Malfoy, evidently do not" McGonagall accuses Draco.
"I'm disgusted. Five students out of bed in one night. I've never heard of such a thing. You, Mr Berkshire, I expected better of, of how this might reflect on your mother. And Miss Bellator and Lancaster, I assumed you both had better judgement" McGonagall now sounded more disappointed than angry.
Mattheo also keenly picked up on that she wasn't at all surprised that he had done something like this, or Draco.
"All of you will receive detention, and fifty house points will be taken apiece" McGonagall decides.
"Fifty?!" Mattheo shrieks.
"Yes, Mr Riddle, fifty" McGonagall barks back at the boy. "To ensure that the severity of the situation sinks into your heads".
