"Hey, Tony stalled in the recording studio."

"Jenny got the wrong dose of anesthesia and I got blamed for it."

Those lines and others similar to it are what John and Liz say after a day's work. Bombarded with schedules and living with even busier lives, it's a good thing to look at each others' tired eyes when they come home. More importantly, they feel ecstatic if they see their daughter, Ava, wait for them. They have been together for fifteen years, married for six. Twenty one years of sheer perfection.

Quite daunting.

"What time did you get here?" John asked while he walked to the couch, sitting beside Liz. She sighed deeply out of tiredness and said,

"Thirty minutes before you. I tucked Ava into bed again. That's the third time this week. She must've gotten pass Mildred."

"I reckon." He answered.

"I'm going to bed now, John. I'll be back in the hospital soon. Might as well get some decent shut-eye or else Dr. Leeson's going to kick my ass again." Liz said and they both laughed. She then went on, leaving John in the living room. These past few years he can see that things weren't so great like before. Yes, they are acutely occupied and barely spending time with their daughter together as one happy family, but that's not the problem. Anyone else who's busier than them can take their kids to Disneyland or even spend a holiday in the Amalfi Coast in Italy. So why can't they do the same?

Both of us can take time offs, John thought. He loves Ava so much and he will do everything for her, even the unthinkable. He loves his wife the same.

Anna Elizabeth McGraw.

His wife.
