Eri stares at the male unsure of him. She tensed up when he got closer, however she didn't full out panic like she would've had it been an adult or teenagers that were looking after her. Kota stopped once he could tell Eri was scared, "hey...it's okay" the boy reassured the girl. Eri remained hesitant at first but let Kota get closer. "You're small..." Eri says softly and Kota stares at her. "And? I'm a kid, besides you're smaller!" Kota huffs as he was so much taller than the girl.

Eri tilts her head "a...kid?" She asks, "well yeah I'm only 6!" Kota answered and eri seemed confused. "What? Don't you know what kids are?" Kota asks eri thinks. "Am I a kid?" Eri asks the male and he nods "yea I guess, how old are you?" Kota asks trying to figure out how old she was supposed to be...I mean based on appearance she looked around 4 or 5, I mean she also looked like overhaul did the absolute bare minimum to keep her alive. "I think I'm 7..." Eri says and Kota was shocked, "you're 7?!" The male said shocked. "I think...I don't really remember my birthday...but I know this year I was supposed to turn 7.." eri admitted.

Kota blinks, he didn't know much of the girl after all the grown-ups just told her she was held hostage by a bad guy. "Hm well when did you normally celebrate?" Kota asks and eri was even more confused. "Erm...you know like when did you throw a birthday party?" Kota says and eri blinks, "what's a birthday party?" She asks, Kota sighs and explains to the girl what a birthday party was. "That sounds fun..." Eri says she felt excited but her voice and face didn't show it.

The two talked for awhile and slowly eri was letting her guard down. "I want a friend they sound so cool!" Eri she didn't realize it but she eventually let her happiness show, "I'll be your friend" Kota says, he didn't really have many friends due to his anger issues but for some reason he physically wasn't capable of losing it with Eri. "Really?! Yay friends!" Eri says and Kota smiles, "Yea friends" Kota eventually had to go but he did come everytime he got the chance.

The hero's still couldn't really come to see her, but they learned as long as Kota was with her they could stand in the door way without freaking her out. It was progress and each passing day Kota taught her more and more and the grown-ups were allowed to get one step closer to her each week. However, one day Kota stopped coming. Eri waited patiently but a week went by and nothing. "..mmm..." Eri looked down sad, the hero's were all at a loss of what to do, after all they couldn't tell eri that Kota was grounded for beating up another student and he wasn't allowed to see her for two weeks.

I mean, they did try but without Kota they couldn't get through to her. She wouldn't let them get near her it honestly felt like that were back at phase one, and those two weeks were hard on everyone. So, Mandalay agreed to find a different punishment next time, "Kota Izumi!" Mandalay calls and Kota comes down stairs still upset he wasn't allowed to see his friends. "What." He says and Mandalay looks at him, "new punishment, no TV or video games for the remainder of your grounding, and you have to write an apology note." Mandalay says

"Kay." He says looking away still upset, "and you can see eri again." She says and Kota perks up, "wait really?!" He says and Mandalay nods, sure she wanted to keep the punishment the same but it was interfering with the hero's work so she couldn't. "Can I go see eri now then?" Kota asks and she nods "remember be careful." She says handing Kota bus money. "Yea yeah!" He says leaving. He didn't know why but he had an overwhelming urge to protect eri, the girl told him some of what she'd been through and ever since he promised himself he'd protect her. No matter the cost.
