It took Kota 5 months to gain eri's forgiveness....and 5 years to gain her trust again. Kota didn't really know he gained it back, he just knew she was warming up to him again. When randomly one day eri came into his room crying, unfortunately she still lived with Kota as no one seemed to wanna adopt her. And she just found out the family who was supposed to adopt her said she was too damaged and they didn't wanna deal with her trauma.
Eri just broke down crying to Kota about what happened and how she didn't know what she did wrong. "Eri...you didn't do anything wrong...." Kota reassures, "you'll find an amazing family okay? I promise.... and hey until then me and you get to be trouble makers forever!" Kota teases and eri looks at him and nods, "at...at least I'm wanted here....right?" She asks and nods nods hugging eri, "you're always gonna be wanted here...." Kota reassures. Eri held onto Kota and just broke down crying, it was the first time eri sought out his comfort and didn't hesitate she just got right to the point. Kota knew that meant she trusted him and he was NOT gonna fuck it up this time.
Kota eventually calmed eri down and got her to fall asleep in his lap and he just rests his head on top of hers. He just held her close and rubs her back, he felt eri's body go completely limp which just meant she felt really safe and just let her guard down completely...which in turn made Kota much more protective of her. Eri took an hour nap before waking up feeling much better after some rest and a much needed nap. "Kota! Eri! Lunch is done!" Mandalay calls and eri perks up clearly hungry. Of course spending 7 years with Kota actually made eri gain more of an appetite, meaning she physically couldn't go a day without having 3 meals and a snack in between each meal. Kota and eri head over to the table and like always the table was just covered in food and eri gladly took her seat waiting for everyone before they said thanks and began to eat.
"Here eri, have some more rice" Mandalay says giving eri more rice, eri just barely just Finished her bowl and still had her face stuffed with rice, she added some spicy ramen on top of her rice as she eats it which definitely tasted amazing. Once they were done eating both eri and Kota were stuffed... mandalay loved to keep their plates full so they ate until all the food Mandalay made was basically gone and there was just enough leftovers for them to have it for their school lunches tomorrow. Eri and Kota both sat there for awhile both too full to really move. Once they could they both went and laid down, Kota passed out and eri just watched a movie as she lays down too lazy and too full to move.
Eri eventually dozed off without realizing it, because before she knew it she was waking up and was just completely confused on when she slept... unfortunately eri actually just ended up waking up in a nightmare instead of real life. "Ugh...." Eri looks around seeing Kota wasn't there, she yawns and stands up. "What time is it?" She asks out loud, she enters what she thought was the kitchen as she rubbed her eyes still waking up. When she opened her eyes she was back in her room at the hassaikai and was back to her 6 year old self. "What the..." Eri looks down absolutely confused, "um...why am I back here?" Eri looks around and tries to open the door, it took her while but when she did she stepped into the hallway. She wondered around for awhile before turning a corner and seeing a completely deformed version of overhaul.
His neck was much longer than normal and bent in ways it wasn't supposed to, he had abnormally long limbs and eyes pitch black. The moment he heard eri his head snapped twords her making sickening cracking sounds. "...." Eri backs away as the creature gives eri a creepy smile and starts to chase her. Eri tries to run but no matter what she did she wouldn't go fast enough and the hallway kept getting longer. Eventually the creature grabs her and all she remembers was seeing his demonic smile. Eri jolts up screaming and Kota flinches, he was right by eri trying to wake her up when he realized she was having a nightmare. Eri was trembling and seemed completely outta it and was just hyperventilating and crying. "Woah....hey....hey...." Kota carefully hugs eri pulling her onto his lap. "You're okay.... you're okay...." Kota reassures as he held eri tightly trying his best to make sure she felt somewhat safe. *It's been awhile since she's had a nightmare this bad....* Kota thinks to himself as he just continued to reassure eri that she was alright and everything was gonna be okay.
It took him 2 hours to calm her down, "here...let's go make some coco and cookies okay?" He smiles and eri sniffles wiping her tears away and nods. He holds her hands as he leads her to the kitchen, He grabs the stuff to make cookies as he lets eri break and add in the eggs while he mixed the batter. Eri also had full control on how many chocolate chips they added, she just put 2 full bags in. Once the batter was ready Kota was setting the cookies on the pan while trying to keep eri from eating all the dough. "Here" Kota sighs, "here" he gives eri a ball of cookie dough which got her off his back for a little bit. He made 4 trays of cookies making 80 cookies total, he could've made more but he gave the rest of the dough to eri to eat. Once all the cookies were done he lets the cool for 5 minutes before starting to make the hot coco, he usually makes it from scratch so by the time it was ready the cookies would be cool enough to eat without burning the tongue. "They're hot, let them cool" Kota says not even needing to turn around to know eri was trying to sneak a cookie. "OW!" Eri yelps dropping the cookie on the cookie sheet. "Told ya" Kota sighs and turns around holding out his hand, "c'mere let me see" Kota says eri give him her hand and he checks to see if it's okay. "Hm..." He pressed on the burn slightly and when he lifts his finger it was gone as her quirk healed it, "there ya go, now go sit down okay? Don't worry I promise you can have some cookies soon AFTER they're cooled down..." Kota ruffles her head, "they should be okay to eat once the hot coco is down so just bare with me a little longer okay?"
Eri sighs and sits down on the counter next to Kota. She sat there watching him make the hot coco, "how come cookies are so hot after baking?" Eri asks not understanding the concept of the oven and baking. "It's because they need a lot of heat to cook and turn from dough into the cookies you like...as a result they come out really hot and need a little bit to cool so we can enjoy the warm crunchy goodness" he says as he knew eri liked when the cookies had a slight crunch to it. Eri nods "ohh okay" she smiles, "oh! What if we make s'mores too?!" Eri asks and Kota chuckles, "we can do that" he smiles, he blushes a little as he saw eri's eyes light up with excitement. He turns on the fire stove for eri as she jumps down from the counter and gets all the stuff for s'mores. Kota watched her make s'mores making sure she wouldn't hurt herself.
He finished the hot coco pouring him and eri a cup and then he goes and helps eri assemble her s'mores. "Look! I made you some too!" Eri smiles happily and Kota smiles back, "heh thanks eri!" Kota smiles as he and eri sat down and enjoyed some coco, cookies, and s'mores. Eri actually ate the sweets so fast she ended up getting the hiccups and Kota chuckles, "told ya to slow down" he teased and eri pouts as she tries to hold her breath to get rid of the hiccups. She sighs and just keeps eating her cookies this time more slowly and she seemed to love dipping the cookies in her hot coco. Kota smiles happy that he was able to cheer eri up and get her to smile again.
After they had their fill of cookies, s'mores, and coco they actually ended up going to their room (yes they still share a room). Eri sits on the top bunk which was still hers and Kota joined her as eri watched Kota play some videogames. He was just playing a horror game that eri seemed to enjoy watching him play. "EEP!" eri jumps as Kota got jump scared and the two look at each other and just burst out laughing. "Roar!" Eri says mimicking the jump scare and Kota plays dead getting eri to laugh so hard she actually started to snort. Kota smirks and pulls eri on top of her tickling her, "haha I came back for my revenge!" He says getting eri to laugh even harder. The two just enjoyed the moment of pure laughter and joy before Kota eventually continued to play that game with eri watching. It was like that for a good while into the night as tonight was just one of the nights Kota would stay up all night playing games, he didn't realize it but those nights were always eri's favorites. Especially when she woke up in the middle of the night and just got to watch Kota playing....it was actually those moments that became key memories in eri's life that she just loved and would one day miss and wanna go back to.
