It took almost two months, but eri was eventually discharged from the hospital. She was staying with Kota, until she was used to being away from him for extended periods of time. Mandalay was honestly surprised at how patient Kota was with eri. Sure there were moments when he got pissed with the girl...but other than giving her a look full of annoyance he didn't show it.
Then there were moments when he just needed 5 minutes away from Eri. After all, she was extremely dependent on the male. Sure it made him happy knowing he could provide that sense of protection to her but it did get annoying sometimes because even he needed some privacy. Right now Kota was sitting in his normal hiding place relaxing. It was nice not being asked simple questions all the time, sure he knew eri couldn't help it and that she was just trying to learn how to live now that she was safe...yet he couldn't help that he still got pissed and annoyed with it. However, not once did he make eri feel bad for asking him things...no one did...they just explained it best they could.
Kota could hear eri asking about how to brush her hair. He rolls his eyes, to him this stuff was so simple and easy...but to eri she was just trying so hard to learn and fit in...it wasn't gonna be like that forever, but right now it's just really the basics. Luckily eri picked up on the hair brushing quickly and smiles. "Thank you Mrs. Mandalay!" Eri says, she goes off to Kota's room. He and eri were sharing a room, he was the one who asked to share a room with eri so he could protect her easily. He sometimes did wish eri would stay somewhere else...but only when he's extremely pissed off and doesn't wanna take it out on her.
An hour goes by, at this point Kota has finally calmed down. He comes out of his hiding spot and just goes inside. "Eri sweetie, can you set the table please?" Mandalay asks, "mhm!" Eri smiles "I can help her" Kota says and eri smiles. "Kota-kun!!" She says hugging the male, she had wondered where he was but was just Happy he was back now. "Heya eri" Kota says patting eri's head, he then helps eri set the table. "Careful with the plates okay eri?" Kota says, "okay!" Eri nods holding the plates with both hands and making sure not to drop them.
She then places them on the table and helps Kota place one place at each seat. "There!" Eri says happily, she then sets up the silverware while Kota sets up the drinks. "Eri what did you want to drink?" "Um...milk?" She says and Kota nods. He pours everyone's drinks and sets them at their spots at the table. Eri then tries to help Kota do so and drops one of the cups. Kota and Mandalay both knew it was an accident so they were about to help her clean it up and just move on. But Kota saw the fear in eri's face. "Hey...eri it's okay, it was an accident...see? No one is upset with you...let's just clean it up okay?" Kota says speaking to her in such a calm tone. Eri looks at him and then the mess. "Okay....okay..." She says trying to calm down feeling safer knowing Kota was right there. Once the mess was cleaned up Kota helped eri clean up for dinner. She really only needed him to bring her a step stool as she was really short.
After they all ate, eri was watching TV and Kota was in their room reading. "What's that?..." Eri asks, "it's a book...it's for people to read" Kota says looking up at Kota. "Read? How do you read?" Eri asks, Kota scoots over. "Here I'll teach ya" he says grabbing an easier book for Eri. He sat there helping eri learn how to read. "um...." Eri stares at a word confused, "try and sound it out" Kota says trying to help her while also not doing everything for her. "Um...T-t....he?" "Close but the T and H make a Th sound" "thhhhhhh" eri repeats and Kota nods. "Mhm, now try saying the word" he says, eri looks at the word. "The?" She says and Kota nods, "mhm that's correct! Good job eri you're a really quick learner!" He says rubbing eri's head. They went on like this for hours...eri definitely wasn't amazing at reading and it still needed work but she was getting the hang of it.
"Mhm..." Kota says, he was a little bit annoyed. But he really didn't show it, just when he was about to take a break from eri, she managed to read almost a whole kid book by herself. Sure she got stuck here and there but she wouldn't let Kota help her she wanted to get it. "heh, eri it's okay you don't have to get it all in one go..." "But you're getting annoyed with me..." Eri says, Kota was shocked and felt bad "eri im not getting annoyed with you...I'm just tired..." He says trying to reassure eri. "Oh...should we go to bed then?" Eri asks, Kota thinks and nods. "Yeah, let's go to bed" he smiles, he helps eri up onto the top bunk and hands her a water bottle. "Here, that way If you get thirsty you have something to drink" Kota says, he then goes over and turns off the light. "Goodnight eri" Kota says laying down on the bottom bunk, "goodnight Kota-kun" eri says. Soon enough both of them were sound asleep for the night.
