After all the fighting was done Kota was suspended for a few days and Lauren was completely expelled. Since Kota wasn't gonna be at school with eri they had to excuse her absence too as without Kota there she wasn't supposed to be at school.
They got home and Kota actually didn't face any punishment for his actions since he was defending eri. The two actually ended up just sitting and watching some TV, mandalay made them some snacks and everything was mostly okay. Awhile later some of Kota's friends stopped by, they were friends Kota met in kindergarten and they were really close. Eri never really met them so she was really hesitant to approach them and when she reached out for Kota the male just got up and rushed over to greet his friends. Kota actually had to attend a different school since he was expelled for the last one so that's why eri never met them since they didn't go to the same school.
"Yo! How have you been dude?" "Nothing much! I actually just got suspended from my current school" Kota sighs and the boys all laughed. Eri felt overwhelmed and actually tried hiding behind Kota only for the male to pull away, he just wanted to spend time with his friends who he hasn't seen in awhile instead of baby eri. Sure he cared deeply for her but for once he just wanted to hangout with people who he didn't have to constantly baby. Eri gives Kota a look of fear and he just rolls his eyes, "wait here." Kota says annoyed as he leads eri to their room and eri eased up thinking her and Kota were just gonna hide here until the males left. But by the time eri climbed up onto her bed and turned to apologize Kota was just gone.
Not wanting to be alone eri decided to try and find him. She made it to the end of the hallway when she heard Kota laughing and talking to the males. "She's so annoying at times! Like- can I not have friends outside of her?" Kota says laughing and eri instantly knew he was talking about her. Eri hides around the corner listening, she listened to Kota and his friends mocking her and just talking about how annoying she was, "God sometimes I wish she would just leave, like I have asked mandalay if we could drop her off at an orphanage but we're not allowed to" Kota admitted, sure he usually asked that when he was overwhelmed with eri and just needed 5 minutes to breathe without having her cling to him and follow him around 24/7....but usually after he calmed down he loved knowing that eri finally just had someone she trusts and felt safe with. And thought was her friend, "...." Eri walks back to the room near tears as she realized that she wasn't really wanted here from what he heard.
"But regardless, I really do like her....she has her moments sure but she's definitely getting better!" Kota smiles proudly, he told his friends all about what eri went through and of course they could understand why eri was hesitant but they could tell that it was mentally draining for Kota to constantly tend to her...after all he was just a kid and wasn't mentally mature enough for this...of course Mandalay noticed that as the two got older Kota was just getting more accustomed to helping eri and making sure she felt welcomed.
It's been 2 years since he last brought up the orphanage thing. As he finally realized that Eri needed a sense of a normal life to open up...and that a few months ago a family took interest in her but since she wasn't that mentally stable after what she went through they lost interest In her quickly.
Meanwhile, eri was sitting on her bed hugging her knees crying. "What did I do wrong?....what did I do?...." She asks herself crying really hard. "I just....why doesn't anyone want me?..." Eri says her heart completely shattered. Eventually, she cried herself to sleep and Kota did eventually come back to the room after his friends left. He could hear eri crying in her sleep and of course he instantly got worried unaware that she heard everything he said earlier. He thinks and ended up carefully setting a stuffy next to her which she instantly hugged unintentionally while she slept and that seemed to calm her down. "There you go..." He smiles sitting down on his bed as he just reads a book.
By the time eri woke up she sat up wondering when she fell asleep. "You good?" Kota asks seeing her wake up as he just came back into the room after taking down some dirty dishes. "....mhm...." Eri nods hugging her knees turning away, no longer confiding in the male, he was the first person she trusted and opened up to....yet in 5 seconds he managed to completely shatter that trust. "Eri..." The male sighs, "you don't have to pretend like you're okay.... it'll help you feel better talking about it" Kota says, usually that would work and eri would crumble and spill everything, but this time her guard was completely up and she didn't realize it but she really didn't trust Kota anymore. "Okay...." She says looking down as she hugs her knees closer to her chest.
Kota got really worried and thinks, "eri please....I wanna help but I can't if I don't-" he starts and eri breaks down. "Just leave me alone... I know you don't want me here and that you think I'm annoying so just....stop pretending to care...." Eri says looking at Kota making it clear he had lost all the trust he worked 2 years to gain. "Eri...I....look I shouldn't have said that I'm sorry....I didn't know you were listening.....yes there were moments I felt that way but I.....you are wanted here okay?.... I want you here.....please just......" Kota sighs, "I'm sorry...." Kota looks down and actually gets on his knees Bowing his head, "I know I messed up...and I know I hurt you by what I said.....but please let me have another chance....I promise I won't hurt you ever again....and I'll work to gain your trust back.... I'll do whatever it takes and wait however long it takes til you can trust me again....just please give me another chance...." Kota says begging for eri's forgiveness while on his knees.
Kota did that to beg properly for her forgiveness....little did he know he was actually just setting the bar for how eri should be treated, meaning later in life she would expect men to get on their knees to apologize and beg her for forgiveness. Of course later that would just mean eri wouldn't settle for a man who didn't treat her well. "....." Eri looks away mad before sighing and looking down, "I can give you a second chance but...I.... don't forgive you...." Eri says and Kota nods, "then I'll work extra hard to earn your forgiveness as well as your trust....." Kota gives her a small smile.
