Chapter 29

We stood in the cubby and of course Randy and I were chopped liver, no one wanted us they were all cooing and passing around Nyx. She was the centre of attention. She was the most adorable little creature to ever grace this planet. I couldn't get enough of her.

I stood with Randy as I watched Curtis making baby faces at our daughter with Anto and Mari at either shoulder. She was only a week old but already the most important person in CG.

"There's my favourite little princess." April appeared in the gateway. She hurried over to Curtis and reached her arms out to him to pass her over.

"Princess?!" Curtis scoffed. "Look at her, she's a warrior." He smiled down at Nyx ignoring April's insistence.

I snickered at their bickering. As K stepped out his apartment door. He had Vinny beside him talking to him casually. K made a line straight over to Curtis and took Nyx off him. "My littlest darling." He cooed at her. "CG's very first princess." He held her close to his chest.

April gave Curtis a smug grin.

I giggled at their interaction. As K kissed Nyx's head and passed her to April. "Right I have a meeting, everyone who doesn't need to be here, clear out." He gestured to everyone around us. April was rocking the baby lovingly.

I turned to Randy and patted his stomach. "You in the meeting?" I reached up to his face. He looked tired. We both were tired, no sleep.

"Nope." He shrugged. "I didn't even know there was one." He rubbed his eyes. "I guess K decided to let us chill." He began over to April when the gate opening pulled my attention.

I felt a strange sensation in my stomach. Like my body tingled. What was this?

My eyes landed on Tommy T. He had Lana and another with him... My eyes slid over to land on none other than Adam. My heart hopped into my throat.

That rat bastard!

I didn't think I just ran.

I ran right at him. Tommy frowned at me like I was running at him. I rand right past him and slammed into Adam, knocking him off his feet. I pounded my fist into his face over and over again. Tommy pulled me off him, when Randy took my place, I knew he would win that fight, I just needed to keep Tommy busy. I struggled wildly in Tommy's grip, knowing I wouldn't get out but keeping him busy enough that he couldn't help Adam.

"You FUCKING RAT!" Randy kept punching. Lana was scratching at Randy's back and screaming at him. Right as Mr. K stepped in. He yanked Randy off of Adam and pushed him back into the cubby.

"Tommy if you don't get your hands off my daughter I will have to slip Randy and Vinny on you." K told Tommy casually. Tommy let his hands fall to his sides. I turned to see Lana helping a bloodied Adam to his feet.

"Fuck that!" I couldn't allow him to live! I reared back and gave him one hard punch. He fell backwards, knocked the fuck out. I heard K let out a huff of laughter.

"Sorry Tommy, but he did Rat, you can't expect them not to have a reaction." K shrugged turning to Curtis and Anto who were holding Randy back. "Curtis take Adam to the hospital." K instructed, Randy, Ray..." K looked from Randy to me. "Take your daughter to Dean's world or something, you need to go cool off." K narrowed his eyes at us.

I glared at Adam's unconscious body but did what I was told. I began over to where April held my daughter. I plucked her up and made my way into our apartment with Randy hot on my heels. His hand on my back protectively.

I placed Nyx in her crib. I did not feel safe enough to take her anyway. I turned to Randy and frowned. "I'm sorry I went after him like that." I whispered. "I just got so mad... I have this weird instinct in me now that just says 'save family, kill threat.'" I rubbed my face stressfully.
