When Scott woke up the following day he heard birds chirping outside and- wait, something new. Jimmy's arm was draped over Scott's waist, just below his wings. And, for some reason, Scott was okay with this. Why? He had only met Jimmy a few weeks ago, why did he feel so loyal to him now?
Jimmy awoke when he felt the elf next to him relax and flutter his wings a little. Jimmy opened his eyes and noticed that his arm was draped over Scott's waist, and better yet, Scott seemed to enjoy it. The blonde smiled to himself, and when he did Scott opened his eyes and smiled back.
"You know, you have very beautiful eyes," Jimmy said, still blushing.
"I've been told that," Scott grinned.
"Haha. Very funny," Jimmy said sarcastically. "But really though, you're gorgeous." He quickly slapped a hand over his mouth. "That was not supposed to be out loud,"
"No, it's alright, because you're gorgeous too," Scott said.
Scott noticed the tips of Jimmy's gills turn a subtle shade of pink. Scott wished that the moment could last longer, but then a knock on the door made Scott flinch and fall out of bed onto his side.
"Coming! One moment!" Jimmy called while he helped Scott up from the floor. Once the elf was on his feet again, Jimmy rushed to the door and it swung open.
"Hello, your Majesty! I have a letter from Rivendell! It says that it's urgent!" the servant handed the envelope to Jimmy, who gently took it.
"Thank you," Jimmy said.
"Yes!" the servant cried as they rushed back down the hall and out of the house.
"What does it say?" Scott asked, leaning over Jimmy's shoulder to see the letter.
"Let's see," the blonde said, opening the envelope carefully. "It says -
Dear Swamp Empire,
We are delighted to hear that Scott is alright. When do you think he will be able to fly home?" Jimmy glanced at Scott's wing and grimaced. His magic could only do so much, and Scott's wing was still very clearly broken.
Jimmy continued. "Please keep him safe. Thank you.
Sincerely, Rivendell," he finished.
"Well, I think that it's clear I'm not going home anytime soon," Scott said with a sigh.
"Yeah, I'm sorry, Scott. I know you want to go home."
"Well, I still like it here... with you," Scott said shyly.
Jimmy grinned and his gills turned a darker shade of red.

The queen of Rivendell was worried about her son. She wondered if he was okay, and to make things worse, all she had for hope was a letter from the Swamp Empire. They could have been the ones who hurt Scott! Or worse, holding him there until Rivendell made a deal to get him back.
The queen hoped that her husband was right, that the Swamp Empire was an honest and kind kingdom. But the more she thought about it, the more she worried, and soon she couldn't take it any longer. She had to see if her son was alright. And with that, she opened her falcon wings and shot off into the sky.
