It wasn't snowing when she left, but almost as soon as she was in the sky thick snowflakes drifted in front of her face, getting caught in her eyelashes and soaking her feathers. The Queen of Rivendell hoped that the Swamp Empire wasn't far.
She flew a few more minutes before the Great Wall of Cod loomed into view and the snow (now more like rain because she was no longer in the mountains) let up, allowing her to see the Swamp Empire in its... would beauty be the right word to call it? It was dainty and cute, but beautiful? No, probably not.
Whatever the case, the Queen flapped her large black-speckled wings to slow her descent. As she came closer to the ground, she looked around rapidly, trying to find Scott. Once her feet touched the ground, the cod people bowed their heads in respect. A little girl with dark blue hair and an indigo tail curtsied, and the queen did so in return. The girl giggled and ran back to her mother, who smiled. She walked along the streets, admiring the coziness of the empire. She would have to make Rivendell more like this. Then out of the corner of her eye, she spotted cyan, a contrast from the browns and greens. She rushed around a corner, and there he was.
"Scott!" the queen called.
Upon hearing his name, the elf prince turned around and saw his mother, "Mom?" Scott said quietly at first but soon got louder. "Mom!"
The boy next to him, who had blond hair and a tan cod tail, gently pushed Scott toward his mother.
"How did you get here?" Scott asked.
"I flew," she said, immediately dismissing the question. "Are your wings alright? Does anything hurt other than them? Do they hurt badly? Are you okay?"
"Whoa, Mother, slow down. I'm fine, but if it weren't for Jimmy," Scott gestured to the blond boy, "I would be much worse."
The Queen did something she never thought she would do. She hugged this stranger and noticed Scott's confused expression and the cod boy's gasp.
"Thank you," she whispered. She let the cod boy go.
"Yes, Queen Khioine," he bowed slightly (sorry, fancy names, say kee-oh-ee-n).
The Queen hugged her son again before spreading her wings and disappearing into the clouds.
