Jimmy walked through the forest in the Swamp Empire. He like to take walks through the dense trees because it helped him think. He approached a clearing with a large lake in it, his favorite place in the whole Empire. He laid down on the grassy bank and closed his eyes.
Suddenly, a loud splash cut through the air. Jimmy sat up quickly and scanned the area for what had made the noise. It sounded like something bigger than a codfish.
He stood up and inspected the water. Something big was sinking in the waves. Jimmy dove into the lake.
Upon further inspection, the thing in the water was actually humanoid, with the exception being his huge white wings. The wings were what made the boy seem so large when in reality, he was actually pretty short.
His eyes were closed and bubbles escaped his mouth, and that's when Jimmy realized that perhaps this kid was not able to breathe underwater.
He grabbed the boy's arms and pushed him towards the surface. They broke that surface and Jimmy pulled the winged boy to the shore and dragged him to the bank.
He looked the boy up and down. He had light blue hair and pointed ears which were covered in lots of golden earrings. His skin was very pale and his nose and ears had a light pink blush. His blue shirt was now covered in mud.
Jimmy's gaze drifted towards the boy's wings and- ugh. That was the problem. The wing was pointing at a disgusting angle.
Suddenly, the boy spluttered and coughed.
"Oh! Hey! Are you okay?" As soon as Jimmy said it he felt stupid. Of course this boy wasn't okay. He was very far from Rivendell and his wing looked broken.
The boy tried to sit up but cried out in pain.
"Hey, hey, it's gonna be ok! I know a way we can fix this," Jimmy said. He had only done healing spells a couple of times, and often they were unreliable. But this injury was worse than what he normally fixed. It would need to be fixed fast or else something worse could happen to it.
He took a deep breath and stroked the feathers of the boy's wing. The wings started to glow as the bones inside moved back into place.
Jimmy was surprised. Normally his healing magic didn't do this well.
The boy sat up and shuffled away from Jimmy. "Who are you?" The boy asked, gasping. His voice had a thick elvish accent.
"Oh! I'm Jimmy, of the Swamp Empire. Who are you?" Jimmy asked.
"I am Prince Scott of Rivendell." The boy, Scott, said. That confirmed Jimmy's theories about the wings.
"Also, why were you falling out of the sky?" Jimmy inquired.
"I got distracted and had to get home quickly, but in hindsight, I should have flown at a normal pace. Then this wouldn't have happened." Scott explained very quickly. And vaguely.
"But at least you're ok now," Jimmy said, shifting his gaze back towards the lake.
"Yes, I guess so."
"Do you need help getting home?" Jimmy asked. The swamp was very far from Rivendell, and the mountains surrounding the kingdom were hard to get past.
"No, I can walk, thank you though."
