And That Day...
Part- 1
The house seemed very normal from outside but the happenings which the bricks were inspecting inside, was something which no one in the neighbourhood would ever guess. Aashi was a 7 year old chubby girl, very lively and very energetic. The only love she had in her life was her grandmother but since her death Aashi remained very quiet and unhappy.
Her life seemed to stop since then. She remained quiet and participated less in what her mother, Mishika, had in store to cheer her up. Aashi remained locked in her room and continued to stare at the bleak and lifeless ceiling. The slow moving fan added cherry on the top for providing a lonesome aura for a small girl.
"Aashi... Aashi..." Mishika yelled the name and approached the room where Aashi was lying on her bed.
"Here you are." She said with a long breath, as if tired due to something.
She saw the nil response from her daughter and quitted speaking anything else. She kept on gazing at her angel and walked ahead. She reached near the corner of the bed and sat down trying to gain some attention from Aashi but Aashi didn't show any interest in her mother's changing positions.
"What happened to my dear daughter?" She asked to Aashi while caressing her leg softly.
Aashi kept quiet, reacting negligibly.
"Are you angry on me?" She asked after a weird silence.
"Speak up." She tried to make her speak by turning her face towards her, making an eye contact.
Aashi's eyes were very deep. They seemed to be tired but the motion of the watery slip, which was very efficiently displayed. Mishika was tensed on seeing those once bright eyes in that condition.
"Is this my Aashi?" Mishika said to herself with head lowered.
She looked back at Aashi and noticed that she had returned to her initial position. It seemed to Mishika that she was alone in that room and Aashi was just her imagination. She left helplessly and ran to her room with tears in her eyes. She hurriedly flipped the clothes on the bed here and there, in order to spot her phone. She couldn't control the storm building inside her. She sat down, trying to control her breath. She scrolled a bit and then made a call to her husband.
"Akshat..." Mishika broke in tears after taking his name.
"I don't know what's happening to her."
"Please do something." She said and disconnected the call.
She lied down and sobbed a bit. It was getting hard for Mishika and Akshat since Akshat's mother died. The whole scene came in front of Mishika's eyes. How things happened in a friction of seconds and how things changed for them and what impact it made on the life of Aashi. It had been one month since the old lady of the house died but the mourning stretched for quite a long in their lives, which was more because of Aashi rather than the death of the old lady....
