And That Day...
Part- 2
Mishika was waiting for her husband’s arrival. She kept on gazing the door while preparing the meal. She rested all her hopes on her husband, Akshat, in gaining her daughter back. The bell rang and she ran like an athlete to greet her husband. She opened the door with a smile, trying to calm her husband down too, from the trauma which she transferred on his head by calling him.
“Where is she?” He asked while giving the bag to Mishika.
“In her room.” She replied and rushed towards the kitchen.
Akshat removed his shoes and moved to Aashi’s room. He was still managing the broken pieces of his heart. The death of his mother was really moving for him but as all Indian men, he was not allowed to weep endlessly whenever required. His heart was still very heavy but he knew that he had more things to worry about.
“How’s my princess?” Akshat tried to speak cheerfully.
He walked and reached near the bed, where Aashi was lying in the same posture since Mishika left her in the afternoon. Akshat was tensed to see the red swollen eyes of his little daughter. It was hard to see her that way but he had no other option then smiling and stopping his tears from falling.
“Hmmm...” Aashi uttered.
“Why are you lying here all alone? You missed your favourite cartoon too, but your mom has recorded it for you, yeeee.” Akshat said happily.
“My eyes are paining dad.” Aashi said slowly while covering her pretty and tired eyes with her left palm.
“It’s ok. I will ask your mom to pass a peck for your eyes.” Akshat said and tickled Aashi.
But she didn’t smile like earlier. She was just trying to remove the hands of her father from her waist. It was weird for Akshat but he didn’t pay much notice to it. For him more important was seeing some activity in that still room. Akshat picked up Aashi in his arms and switched off the light before moving out of the room.
“Here comes the princess of this castle.” Akshat said and moved Aashi in air.
Mishika was smiling like a young one, inspecting something very blissful. She was happy to see her daughter smiling while playing with her father.
“Mishika, pass a peck on Aashi’s eyes, they are troubling her.” Akshat said in a childlike tone, while giving many expressions.
“Really, come here.” Mishika said and widened her arms to hold Aashi.
Aashi stepped down from Akshat’s arms and ran to reach near her mother. Mishika felt so relaxed after that hug. She released Aashi a bit and kissed her eyes. Mishika and Akshat looked at each other and it seemed to them that things would now move ahead calmly. Maybe Aashi needed some extra time, they thought and thus decided to pay attention to her daily chores.

Mishika was dreaded to hear two voices on the staircase. Firstly the sudden bangs due to the gust of wind on a sunny afternoon and then these weird voices near her daughter were troubling her immensely. Was it really the same thing which Mishika was thinking?
“This can’t be her.” she said to herself while taking support of the wall near which she was standing. Her hand was holding her heart as if trying to calm down the raised heartbeat.
She grasped some courage and tilted her head a bit to see the shape of the second voice which was sounding similar to her. To her surprise there was nothing near Aashi. She ran towards her daughter and looked at her as if something has disturbed her really a lot.
“Who was here?” She asked with widened eyes, blood rushing through her face, making it red hot.
Aashi turned her face towards the empty place and smiled. She turned to look back at her mother.
“Grandma.” Aashi said with a smile....
Mishika and Akshat are trying their best to take care of Aashi.
But are things as simple as they are looking?
Who was Aashi talking to?Stay tuned to know...
