THE winds blew the leaves off branches and past everyone, going wherever they were led to.

Autumn had finally arrived.

The smell of decomposing leaves and fertilizer had stench the air, creating a rather foul smell alongside the sweat emitting from the laborers of the field.

Tens of them scattered the farmland, weeding out the dried up leaves or vegetables and harvesting the crops.

Elizabeth Lamar, a young woman in her last teenage year straightened her back, earning a look of disappointment from her middle aged mother.

"Elizabeth, had you not promised to bring me water?" Michael, her twelve year old brother cried as he helped his mother pluck and shake off the soil from the groundnut roots.

Their mother brought a pitiful smile up to Elizabeth, hoping that she would most definitely bring a jar of water for the both of them.

The young woman knew from experience that bringing water for one or two people would mean bringing in water for everyone.

With a steady heart, Elizabeth decided to take it all in for everyone and walked towards the rusted old jug on the ground beneath the tree.

"Elizabeth, are you bringing water? I'd love a drink too!" One of the men shouted towards her, causing a few turns and murmurs of "me too!" to run through everyone.

"Of course," she smiled gently as she walked towards the mansion.

She dawdled on her way to the front door, her dress swishing lightly besides her hips. She wiped her face with the dirty palms of her hands to rid most of the sweat dripping down her forehead, pushing her hair back.
