When she woke up on the morning of her birthday, Jisoo was alone in bed. Her boyfriend had a 9 am call time which meant he must have left the house around 7 am. Jisoo glanced at the clock on her nightstand and it was showing 9:25 am. Jisoo didn't feel like getting up just yet, when she pulled Haein's pillow closer to her, it smelled like him and would help her fall back asleep quicker, she felt a folded paper on top of it. Curiosity getting the best of her, Jisoo turned on her nightlight. The paper was folded into his signature paper plane, she unfolded it and read:
Good morning Jisooya,
I hope you slept well. I am sorry I can't spend the day with you but I left a few clues around the house that will help you find your gifts.
Happy birthday, my love!
He was always going that extra mile; couldn't he just give her the present the night before? He probably spent most of the night setting it up to surprise her, the least she could do was appreciate it. As soon as Jisoo switched her phone back on, a flood of notifications came in. She recalled that she had arranged her London Vlog release today. The phone could wait; she needed to feed Dalgomi and take a shower first.
When she entered her pup's room, she was surprised to find a peaceful Dalgom snoozing next to a paper plane beside his bed.
Good morning Eomma,
Hyung fed me already. He even gave me a treat
Happy birthday Eomma! I love you!
Jisoo smiled, kissed the sleeping doggie and left him to rest while she got ready for the day. She found another paper plane and a small box near her towels. The paper plane read:
The key to open me is behind my favorite picture of you.
Jisoo was making her way to the bathroom when she heard a balloon pop. As she approached the living room, a big surprise awaited her. Her best friend Soojin was sitting on her couch next to a huge Hello kitty doll and a deflated pink balloon. She had decorated her living room walls with "Hello Kitty" balloons, a cake balloon, pink bow balloons with "sweet little lady" written on them, as well as pink and silver star balloons. A projector was showing cute characters and letters spelling "Happy birthday" underneath the balloons. She had gone all out for her.
"Happy birthday Jisooya!" an enthusiastic Soojin yelled as she run to hug her.
"Thank you Soojinah! Did you do all of this?" Jisoo asked hugging her friend back.
"Most of it! Except the breakfast spread I brought sandwiches and Juice but Haein Oppa was setting the rest up when I got here." Soojin explained
"What time did you get here?" Jisoo inquired
"Around 7:10, I think "Soojin replied
Jisoo and Soojin walked to the kitchen island together where Haein had left her a feast fit for a birthday girl! There was a hot bowl of the mandatory seaweed soup, some fluffy pancakes, and a huge fruit platter overflowing with apples, strawberries, raspberries, pineapple, melon, Asian pears, and oranges. A small chocolate fountain was set out to dip the fruit in. All of that was next to a "Hawaiian Hello Kitty" cake with a Jeju tangerine on its head, a ton of sandwiches and bottled "hello kitty" orange juice. On the plate before her, Haein had left another paper airplane note that read: Open the fridge!
In the fridge, she found another note saying:
I wasn't sure what you would be in the mood for
Haein had provided plenty of options inside the fridge: an iced Americano, strawberry milk, orange juice, coffee milk and chocolate milk. Jisoo immediately picked the iced Americano and returned to the table to have breakfast with her friend.
